Controllo rapido della carne bovina - DuPont Qualicon ha introdotto una tecnologia brevettata per la verifica genetica rapida della contaminazione della carne bovina da E. Coli 0157:H7. I tempi totali necessari per completare i test non sono più 24 ore ma meno di 12 ore, utilizzando il sistema di screening BAX basato sull'analisi del DNA. Il metodo brevettato è stato sviluppato per rispondere alle nuove misure stabilite dall'United States Department of Agriculture per ridurre l'incidenza della contaminazione da E. Coli 0157:H7 della carne bovina da sottoporre a trasformazione.
Il metodo non causa perdite di sensibilità e offre un’accuratezza dei risultati superiore al 99%. DuPont Qualicon è inoltre in grado di fornire servizi di consulenza per la sicurezza e la qualità e sistemi di gestione basati su una profonda conoscenza della microbiologia.
Fast checking of beef - DuPont Qualicon has introduced patented technology for the fast genetic checking of beef for E. Coli 0157:H7. The total time needed to complete the tests is no longer 24 hours, but less than 12, using the BAX screening system based on DNA analysis.
The patented method has been developed in response to new measures, established by the United States Department of Agriculture to reduce the incidence of contamination by E. Coli 0157:H7 of beef intended for processing. This method doesn’t cause loss of sensitivity and provides accuracy of more than 99%. DuPont Qualicon can also supply consultation services for safety and quality, and management systems based on a thorough knowledge of microbiology.

La qualità nasce dalla progettazione
Giovane e dinamica realtà veneta, Technowrapp ha deciso di abbinare l’esperienza maturata nel settore dal proprio staff tecnico-commerciale con la produzione di macchine automatiche per il fine linea affidabili e di qualità, requisiti necessari per competere sia sul mercato italiano sia all’estero.
Nata nel 2002 da un’iniziativa dell’ufficio commerciale Covema di Bologna, con l’obiettivo di sviluppare nuovi progetti in Italia e all’estero, Technowrapp si è specializzata nella produzione di macchine avvolgitrici automatiche per carichi palettizzati, puntando sin dall’inizio su sicurezza e qualità dei propri impianti, iniziando dalla componentistica montata al loro interno.
Tutte le macchine Technowrapp sono infatti dotate di prestiro elettronico e saldatura del film con controllo della temperatura; display touch-screen, con analisi dei dati produttivi e predisposizione per la teleassistenza. Per la componentistica pneumatica l’azienda si è rivolta a Bosch Rexroth.
L’offerta comprende attualmente macchine a braccio e a piattaforma rotanti, con o senza copertura superiore del prodotto palettizzato. L’azienda di Fonzaso (BL) produce internamente anche tutti i dispositivi per la movimentazione dei carichi palettizzati: sistemi di trasporto motorizzato a rulli e a catene, piattaforme rotanti, deviatori, navette, sollevatori e sovrappositori per carichi. La componentistica è a norma ISO VDMA e, in particolare, su tutte le macchine vengono installate le valvole Rexroth serie 581 a norma ISO, montate in blocco; i cilindri serie 523 green in profilo di alluminio, oltre a un gruppo di trattamento aria composto da valvola di esclusione, filtro riduttore, valvola avviamento progressivo e pressostato.
L’importanza dei componenti
"Tutte le scelte tecniche in merito alla componentistica pneumatica - spiega Davide Ceccarelli, amministratore delegato Technowrapp - sono state ispirate dalla necessità di montare prodotti di elevata qualità, riconoscibili e reperibili a livello mondiale e, tra l’altro, con un ottimo rapporto costo/prestazioni. Abbiamo scelto di utilizzare solo componentistica di assoluta affidabilità, proprio perché operiamo in una fascia medio-alta di mercato e a lungo termine questa scelta si rivela un plus di fondamentale importanza per i clienti".
Un altro punto di forza è costituito dall’efficiente servizio di teleassistenza.
"Siamo gli unici nel nostro settore - sostiene Ceccarelli - a fornire impianti già predisposti per la teleassistenza. Possiamo tra l’altro contare su una struttura interna che si occupa di diagnosi, manutenzione e modifiche software in teleassistenza, un’innovativa forma di assistenza che è il compendio finale di un approccio al mercato basato anche sulla vendita di un servizio".
Technowrapp è in grado di fornire un impianto completo in circa 3 mesi, una buona performance se si considera che l’azienda produce esclusivamente su commessa. "Lo scorso gennaio - commenta l’amministratore - ci siamo trasferiti nella sede di Fonzaso e di recente abbiamo inaugurato un nuovo stabilimento di 2.500 m2. Finora abbiamo realizzato più di 50 impianti automatici e formato un team di lavoro composto da 20 persone. Un altro aspetto che ci contraddistingue è il tipo di gestione delle risorse umane: amiamo pensare alla nostra azienda come a una realtà aperta, che stimola e al contempo ascolta i propri dipendenti, in quanto siamo convinti che il miglioramento qualitativo e l’aggiornamento costante del prodotto dipendano direttamente dalle capacità e dall’impegno di ognuno di noi. Ma non è tutto, perché il percorso lavorativo prevede che ogni operatore segua diversi progetti per un arco di tempo prestabilito, in modo che in pochi anni tutti abbiano una conoscenza approfondita degli aspetti che regolano la produzione. Anche la scelta della sede non è casuale.
Ci troviamo infatti nelle vicinanze di un Istituto Tecnico Industriale a cui ci rivolgiamo per assumere giovani con un’ottima preparazione, che formiamo sulla base delle nostre specifiche esigenze".
Dallo specifico allo standard
Anche il tipo di rapporto che si crea con i clienti è di fondamentale importanza per Technowrapp.
"Ogni volta che riceviamo una commessa - sottolinea Davide Ceccarelli - si avvia un processo di collaborazione volto alla soluzione di esigenze specifiche. Grazie alla competenza del nostro staff tecnico e commerciale, siamo in grado di collaborare attivamente al progetto e alla sua realizzazione. Naturalmente, le soluzioni a cui approda questa ricerca vengono applicate anche alla produzione standard, come è avvenuto, ad esempio, per il carrello di prestiro e la pinza di saldatura, o per il touch-screen".
Una delle recenti realizzazioni proposte da Technowrapp riguarda un’avvolgitrice in grado di sovrapporre due carichi (foto 1 e 2).
"Per questa macchina - continua il nostro interlocutore - abbiamo creato un sistema di sicurezza anticaduta del carico sospeso che, in caso di anomalia nel sistema di trasmissione, blocca immediatamente il carro sollevatore impedendo la caduta del pallet tenuto in quota dal sollevatore.
Una volta sovrapposti i carichi palettizzati, il doppio pallet viene posizionato su una pedana che lo solleva di 180 mm per fasciare anche lo zoccoletto. Avvolto il carico, tagliato e saldato il film, il pallet scorre su una piattaforma rotante che lo gira di 90° per farlo uscire. Il carrello di prestiro elettronico, fornito come standard, consente di allungare il film fino al 300% e la sua velocità di svolgimento, determinata da un motore montato sul carrello, è gestita da inverter (il parametro di tensionamento è impostabile secondo le varie necessità). La pinza di bloccaggio, taglio e saldatura del lembo finale del film è dotata di un dispositivo saldante con controllo della temperatura.
Anche questa macchina viene fornita con un pannello di tipo touch-screen che, sebbene abbia un costo maggiore rispetto ai classici alfanumerici, semplifica notevolmente la gestione dell’avvolgitrice.
Consente infatti di scegliere la lingua e i programmi da utilizzare; di impostare e modificare i parametri di avvolgimento con estrema facilità, nonché di visualizzare i dati di produzione: numero medio di avvolgimenti per pallet, produzione giornaliera degli ultimi sette giorni, produzione per turno ecc.
Il display è anche in grado di evidenziare eventuali anomalie e suggerire i rimedi. Tutti i dati sono scaricabili su PC grazie a un software già installato sulle macchine ed è prevista la possibilità di collegamento Ethernet con indirizzo IP".
Attualmente la quota export paneuropea e nei paesi del bacino mediterraneo è del 40%. Forte della qualità della produzione e del valore aggiunto che caratterizza il customer service, l’azienda veneta conta di ampliare il proprio campo d’azione sviluppando il business anche nei mercati extra europei.
Quality born out of planning
Young and dynamic concern from the Veneto region, Technowrapp has decided to marry the experience built up in the sector by its technical-commercial staff with the production of reliable, quality end-of-line machines, requisites for competing on the Italian and foreign market.
Set up in 2002 at the behest of the Bologna-based Covema commercial office, with the objective of developing new projects in Italy and abroad, Technowrapp specialises in the production of automatic wrapping machines for palletised loads, placing the onus right from the start on the safety and the quality of its systems, starting off from the componentry assembled inside.
All the Technowrapp machines are in fact equipped with electronic prestretch and film sealing with temperature control; touchscreen display, with analysis of production data and are set for teleassistance. Bosch Rexroth supply the pneumatic componentry.
Their product offer currently covers machines with rotating arms and platforms, with or without upper cover of palletized products. The Fonzaso (BL) based concern also produces all the devices for shifting its palletized loads: motorised roller and chain conveying systems, turntables, deviators, shuttles, lifters and load overlap stackers. The componentry is ISO VDMA standard and in particular all the machines have Rexroth series 581 ISO standard valves assembled in block installed; 523 green cylinders in aluminium profile, as well as an air processing unit made up of an exclusion valve, filter, and progressive valve and pressure operated cut-off switch.
The importance of the componentry
As Technowrapp managing director Davide Ceccarelli explains, “All the technical choices as regards pneumatic componentry have been inspired by the need to assemble high quality products, recognizable and available at world level, and among other things with an excellent cost/performance ratio. We have chosen to use only componentry that is absolutely reliable, for the very reason that we are operating in a mid-to-high range of the market and in the longterm this choice stands as being a plus point of fundamental importance for the customers”.
Another strongpoint is constituted by the efficient teleassistance service.
“We are the only ones in our sector - Ceccarelli goes on to say - to supply systems that are preset for teleassistance. We can among other things count on an internal structure that deals with diagnosis, maintenance and software modifications in teleassistance, an innovatory form of assistance that is the final compendium of a market approach also based on selling service”.
Technowrapp is capable of supplying a complete system in around 3 months, a good performance if one considers that the concern produces exclusively to order.
“Last January - Ceccarelli comments - we moved to the site of Fonzaso and recently we inaugurated a new 2,500 m2 works. Up to now we have made more than 50 automatic systems and formed a workteam made up of 20 persons. Another question that makes us stand out is the type of running of human resources: we love to think of our company as an open concern, that stimulates and at the same time listens to its own employees, in that we are convinced that the qualitative improvement and the constant updating of the product depends directly on the capacity and the commitment of each and everyone of us. But this is not all, because the work process lays down that each operator follows several projects for a preset period of time, so that in a few years everyone has an in-depth knowledge of the aspects that regulate production. Even the choice of the site is not a chance one. In fact we are close to an Industrial Technical School from whence we employ young people with an excellent training, that we train on the basis of our specific needs”.
From specific to standard
The type of relationship that one creates with the customers is of fundamental importance for Technowrapp.
“Each time we get a work order - Davide Ceccarelli underlines - a cooperation process is started up aimed at solving specific needs. Thanks to the skills of our technical and commercial staff, we are capable of actively cooperating on a project up to its completion. Naturally, the solutions that are attained in this research work are also applied to our standard output, as has for example occurred with the prestretch trolley and the seal pincers or for the touchscreen”.
One of the recent creations proposed by Technowrapp concerns a wrapping machine capable of placing two loads on top of each other (photo 1 and 2).
As Ceccarelli continues “we have created a fall prevention safety system for the suspended load that, in the event of malfunction of the transmission system, immediately blocks the forklift preventing the fall of the pallet held up on high by the forklift.
Once the palletized loads have been placed on top of each other, the double pallet is placed on a pedestal that raises it by 180 mm so as to also wrap the base. Once the load has been wrapped and the film sealed, the pallet runs on a rotating platform that rotates 90° to allow it to exit. The electronic prestretch trolley, provided as a standard feature, enables the film to be lengthened up to 300%; its wrapping speed, set by a motor on the trolley, is run by an inverter (the tensioning parameter can be set according to the various needs). The pincers for blocking, cutting and sealing the final edge of the film are fitted with a sealing device with temperature control.
This machine is also supplied with a touchscreen type panel that, while costing more that the classic alphanumerical device, considerably simplifies the running of the wrapping machine. It in fact allows one to choose the language and the programs to be used; to easily set and modify the wrapping parameters as well as to display the production data: the average number of wraps per pallet, daily output and that of the last seven days, output per shift etc. The display is also able to highlight any malfunctions and to suggest remedies. All data can be offloaded onto a PC thanks to a software already installed on the machine and the device is set for an Ethernet link-up with IP address”.
Currently exports throughout Europe and in the Mediterranean area are at 40%. Bolstered by the quality of the production and the added value that features in the customer service, the Veneto based concern intends on broadening its own field of action also developing business in markets outside Europe.
Film di PE rinforzato
Nello scorso mese di settembre Akro Flex ha depositato il brevetto di Thermogreen, un nuovo, resistente film di PE per imballaggi termoretraibili. Questo film si caratterizza per il peso/m2 inferiore di oltre il 30% rispetto agli attuali film in commercio, a parità di resistenza meccanica, nonché per la sezione longitudinale di rinforzo in cui si alternano zone a spessore maggiore e minore (una lavorazione particolare eseguita durante il processo d'estrusione, senza alcun costo aggiuntivo). La stessa soluzione può essere applicata ai film estensibili Estenpack X realizzati con tecnologia sia in bolla sia cast.
I vantaggi in termini di minor impatto ecologico (con la riduzione del carico per contributo Conai) hanno già suscitato l’interesse di alcuni fra i principali produttori di PE, con i quali Akro Flex sta dialogando per la realizzazione di joint-venture finalizzate alla commercializzazione e alla produzione dei film. Tra le applicazioni di maggior successo, ricordiamo quelle nel settore delle acque minerali.
Reinforced PE film
In the month of September Akro Flex deposited the patent for Thermogreen, a new, resistant PE film for heatshrink packaging. This film features for its weight/m2 lower by 30% compared to the current film being traded, this while offering the same mechanical resistance, as well as for its longitudinal reinforcement section in which areas of different thickness alternate (a special working carried out during the extrusion process, without any added cost).
The same solution can be applied to Estenpack X stretchfilm made both with bubble and cast technology.
The advantages in terms of lesser ecological impact (with reduction of the Conai contribution charge) have already aroused the interest of some of the main producers of PE, with which Akro Flex is dialoguing for the creation of joint ventures for commercialising the film. Among the applications showing the greatest success we cite that of the mineral water sector.
Etichette per difendere il brand
Sono stati calcolati intorno al 7% del traffico mondiale, vale a dire circa 280 miliardi di Euro, i danni derivanti dalla contraffazione e dalla sofisticazione dei prodotti. Si fa sempre più pressante, dunque l’esigenza di proteggere i brand per evitarne, o quantomeno ostacolarne, la riproduzione. In fatto di "sicurezza autoadesiva" Arca Etichette ha messo a punto soluzioni efficaci, avvalendosi di tecniche e materiali speciali, combinati a numerosi elementi identificativi. In particolare, l'azienda può fornire ologrammi a immagini tridimensionali e con cromie particolari, oppure inchiostri termocromatici che scompaiono a una temperatura predeterminata o – ancora - etichette indistruttibili e, quindi, non asportabili, fino ai progetti particolari e personalizzati in risposta a specifiche esigenze.
Labels to defend brands
Losses due to counterfeit and adulterated goods have been calculated to account for about 7% of global traffic, i.e., worth about 280 billion Euros. The need to protect brands against copying, or at least hinder this, is therefore ever more urgent. When it comes to "security stickers", Arca Etichette has developed effective solutions, drawing on special techniques and materials, combined with numerous elements of identification.
Especially, the company can provide holograms with 3D images and special colours, or thermochromatic inks that disappear at a set temperature or - again - indestructible labels that cannot, therefore, be removed. Plus special, customised projects to meet specific needs.
Materie selezionate per componenti "alternativi"
Specializzata nello sviluppo e nella produzione di componenti realizzati con materiali plastici di nuova generazione, Ensinger ha studiato alternative economiche e affidabili alle leghe metalliche tradizionali. Nel caso della componentistica destinata alle macchine di confezionamento di generi alimentari, le caratteristiche dei termoplastici impiegati (Tecadur, Tecaform e Tecapeek) assicurano il rispetto degli standard FDA relativi alla sicurezza nel contatto con gli alimenti. Infatti, grazie alle loro qualità intrinseche (autolubrificazione, leggerezza, inerzia chimica, atossicità) i componenti Ensinger non alterano le caratteristiche organolettiche del cibo e possono essere sanificati e sterilizzati facilmente. Infine (rispetto all'utilizzo di ingranaggi di acciaio o materiali compositi) rendono possibile una notevole riduzione delle vibrazioni e del rumore, a tutto vantaggio delle condizioni di lavoro degli operatori.
Selected materials for "alternative" components
Specialising in the development and production of components using new generation plastics, Ensinger has studied some low-cost, reliable alternatives to conventional metal alloys. The characteristics of the thermoplastics used to produce components for food packaging machinery (Tecadur, Tecaform and Tecapeek) guarantee full respect of FDA standards concerning safe contact with food. In fact, thanks to their intrinsic qualities (self-lubricating, light-weight, chemically inert and non-toxic), Ensinger components do not alter the organoleptic characteristics of food and can be easily sanitised and sterilised. Finally, (with regard to the use of steel or composite material gears), they make it possible to obtain considerable reductions in vibrations and noise levels, all to the advantage of the working conditions for operators.
Lastre alveolari
FI.MIR. è uno dei principali produttori europei di lastre alveolari di polipropilene. Acquisito nel 1999 il brand Polionda (nome apprezzato nell'ambito dei semilavorati in materiale plastico estruso), ha effettuato importanti investimenti, che hanno portato a un considerevole aumento della capacità produttiva.
Oggi FI.MIR. propone una versione "trasparente" del Polionda, che assicura una maggior nitidezza rispetto a quella neutra naturale e, soprattutto, non si opacizza in fase di fustellatura (le parti tagliate e cordonate non tendono a "sbiancare" ma restano trasparenti).
Nata come alternativa al cartone, la lastra alveolare Polionda è il risultato dell’estrusione di polipropilene omopolimero o copolimero che, miscelato con additivi diversi, rende possibile la produzione di lastre ignifughe, conduttive o dissipative di cariche elettriche, ma anche resistenti ai raggi ultravioletti.
Leggere, resistenti agli agenti atmosferici e all'umidità, facili da sagomare e assemblare tramite saldatura a ultrasuoni, le lastre trovano applicazione in numerosi ambiti, a partire dalla produzione di imballaggi industriali (scatole di vari formati e dimensioni anche ripiegabili, separatori, interfalde per trasporto di pezzi meccanici, fasce per rivestire cassoni metallici, lastre per la protezione di coil e di trafilati, pannelli fonoassorbenti e idrorepellenti). Inoltre, grazie alle caratteristiche di atossicità, Polionda può essere impiegato nella realizzazione di imballaggi destinati al settore alimentare. Il materiale viene anche fornito in bobine da 100 o 200 m di lunghezza, e ha una densità variabile tra i 300 g/m2 ai 600 g/m2 in funzione dello spessore.
Honeycomb sheets
FI.MIR. is one of the main European producers of polypropylene honeycomb sheet. Bought in 1999, the Polionda brand (a name much appreciated in the area of extruded plastic semi-finished goods) has made some important investments that have led to a considerable increase in output capacity. Today, FI.MIR. proposes a "transparent" version of Polionda, guaranteeing greater sharpness than the natural neutral version and, especially, it does not become dull during die-cutting (the cut, edges parts tend not to "whiten" but remain transparent).
Born as an alternative to cardboard, the Polionda honeycomb sheet is the result of extruding homopolymer or copolymer polypropylene that, when mixed with different additives, makes it possible to produce fire-resistant sheets and sheets that conduct or dissipate electrical charges, but are also resistant to UV rays.
Lightweight, weather and humidity resistant, easy to shape and assemble via ultrasound sealing, these sheets have applications in many areas, starting from the production of industrial packaging (variously shaped and sized boxes, including folding boxes, separators, layer inserts when shipping mechanical parts, strips to cover metal caissons, sheets to protect coils and drawn items, soundproofing and waterproofing panels). What's more, thanks to their non-toxicity, Polionda sheets can also be used for packaging for the food sector.
The material is also supplied in reels 100 or 200 m long and has a variable density between 300 g/m2 and 600 g/m2 depending on the thickness.
Profilati di grandi dimensioni
La pressa dello stabilimento Metra, la più grande in Italia, è diventata ancora più potente.
Frutto di un preciso orientamento strategico, che mira a consolidare il Gruppo Metra a livello nazionale ed europeo nel settore degli estrusi in alluminio, il potenziamento si inserisce in un programma di investimenti che l’azienda sta effettuando nel mercato dei grandi estrusi a disegno e del barrame di peso elevato in lega 6082, per la meccanica e lo stampaggio.
Entrata in funzione lo scorso febbraio, la pressa raggiunge ora una potenza massima pari a 6.050 t. Nel mese di ottobre è stato affiancato al precedente (che consentiva l’utilizzo di barre di alluminio da 330 mm), un contenitore nuovo e più grande da 406 mm (16 pollici). In tal modo il peso massimo estrudibile è passato dai 370 kg a circa 500 kg. Lo scopo di tale investimento è l’aumento delle possibilità di estrusione in termini di peso al metro lineare in rapporto alla lunghezza complessiva del profilato.
Un potenziamento che non solo risulta in linea con il trend di crescita in atto nel mercato europeo degli estrusi, ma amplia ulteriormente la gamma dei settori industriali a cui il gruppo Metra si rivolge (trasporti, costruzioni meccaniche, elettrotecnica, imballaggio, nautica e delle attrezzature sportive). La pressa è stata realizzata dall’azienda Danieli Breda, mentre la linea di estrusione è stata prodotta dalla Omav.
Large scale profiles
The press in the Metra factory - the largest in Italy - has become even more powerful. The result of a precise market orientation strategy aimed at consolidating the Group's Italian and European position in the aluminium extrusion sector, this boosted production capacity is part of a program of investments that the company is making in the market of large scale extrusion to design and heavy-weight steel (6082 alloy) for the metal parts and moulding industries.
The revised press went on-stream last February and now reaches max power of 6,050 t. In October, a new larger container - 406 mm (16 inches) - was added to the previous one (allowing for the use of 330 mm aluminium bars). This way the max extrusion weight has gone from being 370 kg to roughly 500 kg. The purpose of this investment is to increase extrusion capacity in terms of weight per linear metre to suit the overall length of the profile.
This boosted production not only reflects the current trend for growth on the European extrusion market, but further extends the range of industrial sectors to which the Metra Group can offer its services (transports, mechanical construction, electrotechnical, packaging, ship-building and sports equipment). The press has been built by Danieli Breda, while the extrusion line is from Omav.
Uno strumento per i packaging designer
DeskPack di Esko-Graphics è una soluzione professionale per il packaging che estende le funzionalità di Adobe Illustrator grazie a una serie di potenti plug-in, boostX, checkX e trapX, in combinazione con un server su cui gira il software di trapping. A tool for packaging designers
DeskPack, a professional packaging solution by Esko-Graphics, adds a series of powerful plug-ins, boostX, checkX and trapX, to extend the functions of Adobe Illustrator, combined with a server hosting the trapping application.
Thus designers or prepress operators no longer need to learn a new application or convert to a foreign file format, they can work from their familiar desktop environment and add a full range of exciting, industry proven tools to their toolbox. A plug-and-play server box hosts the advanced trapping application ColorStitch. The server ensures that Illustrator stations are freed up for more interactive tasks while complex manipulations continue in the background. All operations are fully controlled from within the familiar Illustrator desktop.
Esko-Graphics is developing a worldwide distribution channel, separate from its direct sales network, enabling designers and packaging production specialists easy access to professional packaging design tools for less complex jobs.
Sistemi per l'automazione
Il sistema modulare Amkasyn KE/KW della AMK, proposto da Servotecnica, è composto da un alimentatore (KE) e da moduli di azionamento divisi in sei taglie di potenza adatti a pilotare motori in AC sincroni, asincroni, rotativi, di coppia e lineari. Per ottimizzare le dimensioni del pacchetto e ben interfacciare i motori di taglia piccola è disponibile un modulo doppio, due azionamenti indipendenti in un solo contenitore, con potenza di 2 kW ognuno.
Gli azionamenti sono alimentati a tensione 400-480 VAC con 24 VDC separata per i servizi, 32 moduli sono collegabili tra loro attraverso un bus sincrono (ACC BUS) ad alta velocità. Il sistema dispone di connessioni verso i fieldbus più diffusi.
Il motion control con PLC è disponibile in diverse configurazioni scalabili in funzione della complessità applicativa ed è programmabile secondo lo standard IEC 61131. Notevole è anche la flessibilità garantita a livello dei feedback; sono infatti disponibili interfacce per resolver, encoder TTL, encoder sin/cos, encoder assoluti mono e multigiro.
La funzione motion/PLC è configurabile a tre livelli: il primo, integrato nel modulo di azionamento, non prevede l'aggiunta di hardware, il secondo richiede l'aggiunta di una scheda di motion/PLC che controlla fino a 32 assi e il terzo è realizzato con l'impiego del controllore SIMAC che, con il suo sistema operativo real time, controlla la comunicazione sincrona con gli azionamenti (interpolazione, camme), gestisce il PLC, la comunicazione con i fieldbus e la comunicazione con l'interfaccia operatore attraverso MOD BUS o Ethernet.
I tre livelli di configurazione possono anche essere connessi in modo misto (decentralizzazione calibrata), si possono quindi evitare le ridondanze, pur impostando un sistema espandibile verso l'alto.
Quale complemento importante alla serie KE/KW/SYMAC la società AMK ha presentato una serie di servomotori DT, a 10 e a 20 poli, a elevate prestazioni in quattro taglie. Le coppie vanno da 1,2 a 80 Nm e sono anche disponibili in versione raffreddata ad acqua. In versione ad albero cavo, per accoppiamento diretto del carico, la coppia max è di 400 Nm.
Automation systems
The modular Amkasyn KE/KW system by AMK, offered by Servotecnica, consists of a power supply (mod. KE) and different drive modules sized in six power ratings suited for piloting AC synchronous, asynchronous, rotary, torque and linear motors. To optimize the size of the package with low power motors, a double module is available (two independent drives each with 2 kW power in a single container).
The system is supplied with 400-480 VAC and 24 VDC for auxiliary services, 32 modules can be connected between each other through a high speed synchronous bus (ACC BUS). Connections to the most common fieldbuses are available. Motion control with PLC is available in different configurations that can be scaled depending on the application complexity and programmed according to standard IEC 61131. Considerable flexibility is also guaranteed by feedback interfaces for resolvers, are in fact available along with TTL encoders, sin/cos encoders, absolute mono and multirotation encoders.
The motion/PLC function can be configured on three levels: the first, integrated in the drive module, does not require additional hardware, the second requires the addition of a an additional motion/PLC board to control up to 32 axes and the third consists of a SIMAC controller that, with its real time operating system, to control the synchronous communication with the drives (interpolation, cams) and to run the PLC, the communication with fieldbus and the communication with the operator interface through MOD BU or Ethernet.
The three levels of configuration can also be connected in mixed mode (calibrated decentralization), hence avoiding redundancies can be avoided, while all the same configuring a system that is upwardly expandable.
As an important complement to the KE/KW/SYMAC series the company AMK has presented a series of the DT servomotors series, with 10 and 20 poles, with high performance in four sizes. Torque range 1.2 to 80 Nm. Water-cooled version available. The hollow shaft version, for direct coupling of the load, has a max. torque of 400 Nm.

Tecnolito came into being at the end of the seventies, with the objective of supplying high quality prepress services, using constantly renewed criteria and machines in step with technological progress. Creo Inc. ha avviato una collaborazione con BASF Printing Systems al fine di offrire nuove soluzioni per il mercato delle etichette e, in occasione di Labelexpo Europe, BASF ha presentato, presso lo stand Creo, la nuova generazione di lastre digitali nyloprint® per la stampa tipografica, oltre alla nota gamma di prodotti digitali per la stampa flessografica. Le lastre BASF sono state esposte dal vivo sul sistema CTP ThermoFlex® Narrow, proposto per il mercato delle etichette e della stampa a fascia stretta.
Creo ha proposto anche alcune soluzioni per il packaging: Prinergy Powerpack™, il sistema per la gestione del flusso di lavoro automatizzato e integrato basato sul formato PDF per i trasformatori di packaging e per le fotolito, e Brisque® Pack, la soluzione per il packaging CT/LW con opzioni di step-and-repeat. Da segnalare anche il portale Internet Creo Synapse® InSite per la prestampa, che contribuisce ad abbreviare i tempi di lavorazione e a ridurre i costi. Digital plates
Creo Inc. has started up cooperation with BASF Printing Systems so as to offer new solutions for the labeling market and, in occasion of Labelexpo Europe, BASF presented the new generation of nyloprint® for typographical printing, as well as a known range of digital products for flexographic printing at the Creo stand. The BASF plates were exhibited on the CTP ThermoFlex® Narrow system, offered for the narrow label and narrow web print range market. Creo has also proposed other solutions for packaging: Prinergy Powerpack™, the system for running an automated and integrated workflow based on PDF format for packaging and photolitho converters, and Brisque® Pack, the CT/LW packaging solution with step-and-repeat options. Of note too the Creo Synapse® InSite Internet portal for preprinting, that contributes to reducing worktimes and reducing costs. Synapse InSite is a key system in the Networked Graphic Production™ environment, strategic undertaking that places the creative area of designers in communication with the logistical and administrative part (delivery and invoicing).
Marcare flessibile
Imaje presenta il codificatore a trasferimento termico Serie 5000, creato per lavorare in linea su film plastici o cartacei, soprattutto nel settore alimentare, come contraddistinto in primo luogo da un rapporto qualità-prezzo molto favorevole. Guardando alle caratteristiche tecniche, si evidenzia la disponibilità di due diversi modelli - con modalità di stampa intermittente o continuo - l’adozione di teste a trasferimento termico e l’utilizzo di ribbon inchiostrati, che consentono la riproduzione in “tempo reale” di caratteri, loghi e codici a barre.
I dati inseriti da PC e i messaggi modificabili on line (da touch screen) ne aumentano la flessibilità e le prestazioni sono elevate: velocità fino a 500 mm/s in continuo e 150 pezzi/min con l’intermittente, risoluzione di 300 dpi (alta definizione); possibilità di ruotare i messaggi di 90°, 180° e 270°.
Nella versione che stampa in continuo, a velocità costante, la testa resta ferma e lavora su un film in movimento continuo; un encoder rileva la velocità di avanzamento e la macchina si adegua automaticamente. Le finestre di stampa possono essere di 53x133 mm e 107x133 mm.
Nel modello a stampa intermittente è la testa di stampa a muoversi, mentre il film si ferma. Questo tipo di macchina viene usata per marcare superfici più ampie (per esempio tre vaschette in fila), con finestre di 53x110 mm e 107x110 mm.
Da segnalare per entrambi i tipi di codificatore le minime esigenze di manutenzione (si tratta di macchine interamente d’acciaio e con accessi semplificati) e la predisposizione di un allarme per il ribbon, che rileva quanto ne è stato utilizzato e quanto ne rimane. Ciò permette all’operatore di conoscere, nel momento stesso in cui imposta il messaggio, di quanto ribbon dispone, evitando così sprechi di inchiostro (il ribbon utilizzato solo per metà può essere girato e usato anche dall’altra parte).
Flexible marking
Imaje presents its heat transfer coder Series 5000, created for working in line on plastic films or paper products, aboveall in the food sector.
The coder stands out first and foremost for its very favourable quality-price ratio. Looking at the technical characteristics, two different models are available - with intermittent and continuous print modes - with the adoption of heat transfer heads and the use of inked ribbons, that enable the reproduction in “real time” of characters, logos and barcodes. The data inserted on PC and the messages that are modifiable on line (from touch screen) increase flexibility and performance: speeds of up to 500 mm/s in continuous and 150 pieces/minute in intermittent motion, 300 dpi resolution (high definition): the messages can be rotated 90°, 180° and 270°.
In the continuous print version at constant speeds the head is stationary and works on a film in continuous motion; an encoder reads the feed speed and the machine adjusts automatically. The print windows can be 53x133 mm and 107x133 mm.
In the intermittent print model the print head moves, while the film is stationary. This type of machine is used to mark broader surfaces (for example three trays lined up), with 53x110 mm and 107x110 mm windows.
Of note the fact that both types of coders require minimum maintenance (these are machines that are entirely in steel and with simplified accesses) and the presence of a ribbon alarm, that reveals how much ribbon has been used and how much remains. Thus, at the very moment when he composes the message, the operator knows the amount of ribbon available, thus avoiding ink wastage (half-used ribbons can be turned over and used on the other side).
Rintracciabilità in produzione e distribuzione
"Filo di Arianna" è il nuovo software di rintracciabilità di prodotto, dalle materie prime al mercato, lanciato dall’azienda piemontese Ibimec, operante nel settore dell’information technology.
Il software Ibimec, che sfrutta tecnologie semplici (codice a barre) o più complesse (radiofrequenza), consente di gestire con strumenti informatici quattro punti chiave del processo produttivo: l’approvvigionamento, cioè il censimento di tutte le materie prime o dei semilavorati in ingresso, dalla loro origine all'ingresso in azienda; l’area di fabbricazione, ovvero tutti i punti di trasformazione interni; lo stoccaggio, ossia il deposito e il trasferimento ai magazzini; il post vendita, cioè la spedizione del prodotto finale al cliente.
Il software è in grado di rilevare all’interno di queste fasi tutte le cause di non conformità.
Le informazioni ottenute per garantire le tappe del processo di rintracciabilità contribuiscono a soddisfare i requisiti del Sistema di Assicurazione Qualità Aziendale, diventandone il principale strumento in linea con le norme ISO 9000.
Questa soluzione informatica, che utilizza un’interfaccia user friendly, è indicata soprattutto per il comparto agro-alimentare, ma è applicabile a diverse tipologie di azienda.
Oltre ad offrire un risparmio in termini di tempo, Filo di Arianna consente di dare risposte tempestive e precise e di ridurre la produzione di carta per la reportistica e i costi di altre attività di ricerca di prodotto non informatizzate.
Traceability during production and distribution
The ‘Filo di Arianna’ (Ariadne’s Thread) is a new software for tracing products, from raw material to the market, launched by the Piedmont company Ibimec, which operates in the information technology sector.
The Ibimec software, which exploits simple (barcode) or more complex (radio frequency) technologies, allows the management through computer instrumentation of four key points in the production process: provisioning, that is, an audit of all raw materials or part-finished goods coming in, from the moment they enter the factory; the manufacturing area, or all internal conversion points; storage, or placement in the warehouse; and after-sales, that is, despatch of the end product to the customer.
Within these stages, the software can show up any reasons for non-conformity of the product.
The information obtained to ensure the stages of the traceability progress goes a long way to meeting the requirements of the Sistema di Assicurazione Qualità Aziendale (Company Quality Assurance System) which is becoming the main tool in accordance with ISO 9000.
This information technology solution, which employs a user-friendly interface, is particularly suitable for the agrofood sector, but can be applied to many types of company.
As well as offering a saving in terms of time, the ‘Filo di Arianna’ can give prompt, accurate responses and reduces the amount of paper generated in the form of reports and the cost of other activities involved in searches by a product which is not computerised.
Soluzioni per l’image processing
Fondata nel 1994, Image S è uno dei principali distributori sul mercato italiano di prodotti per image processing, destinati a risolvere le problematiche di OEM e utilizzatori finali per i settori più diversi (industriale, militare, medicale e scientifico). L’azienda italiana cura ogni aspetto della fornitura con hardware d’acquisizione delle immagini (telecamere, frame grabber o frame processor); cavi di collegamento standard e dedicati; librerie software per l’elaborazione delle immagini complete di tutti i tools necessari; illuminatori speciali (fibre ottiche e LED); ottiche e filtri.
Tra le numerose aziende rappresentate ricordiamo la società canadese Dalsa (CCD e telecamere lineari, lineari TDI e matriciali); la tedesca Rodenstock - Linos company (ottiche industriali ad alta risoluzione ed elevato contrasto e luminosità) e la Jai, produttore danese di telecamere standard e non.
Quest’ultima, insieme alle tedesche Stemmer Imaging e Asentics, ha messo a punto ThinkEye, un’unità compatta che integra le funzioni di cattura ed elaborazione delle immagini. Questa soluzione è basata su una piattaforma software aperta, che assicura facilità di configurazione e di connessione ad attrezzature esterne come PLC, robot e reti LAN. Integrata in macchinari o utilizzata direttamente sulle linee di produzione, ThinkEye consente numerose operazioni: dal controllo pezzi prima del confezionamento, alla verifica di blister e confezioni farmaceutiche, dall’ispezione di parti prima del loro assemblaggio o di componenti elettronici e semiconduttori alla selezione di prodotti alimentari.
Image processing solutions
Founded in 1994, Image S is one of the main distributors in Italy of image processing products on the Italian market, aimed at resolving the problems faced by system integrators, OEMs and end users in a wide range of sectors (industry, military, medicine and science).
The Italian company looks after all aspects of supply using image acquisition hardware (TV cameras, frame grabbers and frame processors); standard and dedicated connection cables; software libraries for complete image processing of all necessary tools; special illuminators (optic fibre and LEDs); lenses and filters.
The many companies represented by Image S include Dalsa of Canada (CCD and linear TV cameras, linear and matrix TDIs); the Rodenstock - Linos Company of Germany (high resolution industrial lenses with high contrast and brightness) and Jai, a Danish producer of standard and special cameras. The latter, together with Stemmer Imaging of Germany and Asentics, has developed the ThinkEye, a compact unit that integrates image acquisition and processing functions. This solution is based on an open software platform that guarantees easy setup and connections to peripherals, such as PLCs, robots and LAN networks. There are many ThinkEye applications either added to existing machinery or used directly on production lines: from product controls before packing to checking blister packs and pharmaceutical packs, from inspection of parts before assembly or electronic components and semi-conductors to the selection of food products.
Le “bolle” che diventano firme
Novatec ha ottenuto un prestigioso Bronzo al Siemens Grand Prix for Innovation 2003 per il suo dispositivo Prooftag, in grado di iniettare delle bolle all’interno di una resina trasformandola in una “firma” unica e non riproducibile.
In collaborazione con l’IRIT-CNRS di Tolosa (importante centro di ricerca francese sulle tecnologie della visione artificiale), Novatec ha sviluppato un sistema di lettura brevettato a livello internazionale, che funziona in due step successivi. In un primo momento, un sensore ottico rileva l’immagine 2D della posizione e dimensione delle bolle che si formano durante il processo di indurimento nei TAG di resina appositamente prodotti. Un apposito programma di riconoscimento trasforma questa immagine in una firma digitale.
In un secondo tempo, modificando l’illuminazione, si creano delle ombre che generano una terza dimensione, completando così le informazioni iniziali e rendendo impossibile creare copie fasulle del TAG ottenuto. I dati raccolti vengono registrati in un database protetto, accessibile via Internet. La tecnologia Prooftag, basata sul principio di interrogazione a distanza di database protetti, apre la via a molteplici applicazioni - nel settore medico, bancario, della lotta alla contraffazione, della rintracciabilità delle merci… - ad un costo molto limitato.
Una sicurezza del tutto casuale
Il TAG a bolle viene dunque realizzato con una resina trasparente (ma attualmente Novatec sta sperimentando altri tipi di materiale), nella quale si autogenerano delle bolle durante la fase di indurimento. La ripartizione, la dimensione e la forma delle bolle (il cui diametro varia al momento da 1/50° a 2 mm) sono del tutto casuali e quindi impossibili da controllare e riprodurre. Il TAG di identificazione così ottenuto può assumere diverse forme (dischetti, rettangoli…), dimensioni (da 1 a 10 mm) o consistenze; inoltre può essere applicato su un oggetto o documento, oppure visualizzato, per esempio sotto forma di fotografia 3D.
Per registrare la firma e l’immagine del TAG sulla catena di produzione si utilizza un lettore optoelettronico, ma al momento dell’identificazione è sufficiente l’occhio umano, in grado di verificarne la struttura tridimensionale e di compararla all'immagine inserita in database (accessibile via Internet sul sito www.prooftag.com), grazie al codice di identificazione posto sul tag stesso o sull’oggetto da identificare.
“Bubbles” that become signatures
Novatec has just won the bronze award at the Siemens Grand Prix for Innovation 2003. Bubbles injected in resin transform a resin drop into a unique signature, and the process is random and cannot be duplicated.
Novatec, in conjunction with IRIT-CNRS, a Toulouse laboratory specialising in machine vision, has developed a reading system subject of an international patent, which operates in two stages. First, an optical sensor takes a two-dimensional image of the position and shape of the bubbles that form during the hardening process in the specially produced resin TAGs. A shape recognition program then converts into a digital signature.
In the second stage, the lighting is changed to produce shadows: this third dimension complements the initial information and data are stored on a secure data base accessible over the Internet.
This technology based on the principle of interrogating secure data bases opens up a wide field of applications: from medicine to banking, from combating counterfeiting to traceability of products and goods. And all this at the cost of only a few pence.
Safety born by chance
The bubble tag or identifier consists of transparent resin (but Novatec is experimenting other types of materials) in which bubbles appear as the resin sets. The distribution, size and shape of the bubbles are completely random and impossible to duplicate. The TAG is available in various shapes (discs, rectangles etc.), consistencies (flexible or rigid) and sizes (1 to 10 mm). The size of the bubbles can vary between 1/50th and 2 mm in diameter. With the largest size, which has a miniscule probability of error, it is practically impossible to confuse two tags. The tag can be attached to an object or document (glued, crimped, implanted etc.) or visually (secret code, photograph etc.).
To register the TAG signature and image on the production line an optoelectronic reader is used, but the human eye is sufficient at the moment of identification, this by comparing the tag with an image stored in the data base, which can be accessed via the Internet on the www.prooftag.com site, using the tag’s identification code which appears on the tag itself or on the object to be identified.
Roto: la prima Schiavi made in China
La presentazione ufficiale della prima rotocalco Schiavi SG 1200 prodotta in Cina, si è svolta lo scorso settembre presso lo stabilimento Bobst di Shanghai. Vi hanno assistito un centinaio di trasformatori cinesi, interessati alle soluzioni tecniche d’avanguardia che coniugano qualità e velocità di stampa a una grande efficienza produttiva. SG 1200 è una rotativa rotocalco 8 colori ad albero elettrico (ELS), con luce da 1.250 mm, ottimizzata per la stampa di imballaggi flessibili.
In demo una stampa a 300 m/min su un film BOPP da 19 micron, con un velocissimo cambio lavoro, e una stampa su un film PET da 12 micron, sempre a 300 m/min. Il soggetto è stato inciso su cilindri della cinese Yun-Chen. La macchina è attrezzata con un sofisticato sistema di controllo del registro S5100 prodotto da Registron Integrated, che ottimizza le prestazioni e la produttività della rotativa.
Roto: first Schiavi made in China
The official presentation of the first Schiavi SG 1200 rotogravure press produced in China took place last September at the Bobst works at Shanghai. Nearly one hundred Chinese packaging converters attended the event, keen to see the leading-edge technical solutions that marry quality and print speed to a great production efficiency. The SG 1200 is an 8 color 1250 mm width printing press, fitted with electric line shaft (ELS) and optimised for flexible packaging printing. During the demonstration the gravure printing on 19 micron BOPP at 300 m/min and a fast changeover followed by printing on a 12 micron PET film, again at a speed of 300 m/min was carried out. The print subject was engraved on Chinese-made gravure cylinders manufactured by Yun-Chen company. The machine is equipped with a sophisticated S5100 register control system produced by Registron Integrated, that optimizes the performance and the productivity of the rotogravure print press.
