PET caseario - Un nuovo studio condotto recentemente da PCI identifica opportunità significative per il PET nell'imballaggio di latte e latticini. Secondo questo studio il potenziale segmento di mercato dovrebbe toccare quota 500.000 t nel Nord America e buone opportunità dovrebbero presentarsi anche per l'Asia. L'indagine identifica due nuovi segmenti da raggiungere: latte fresco in contenitori di piccole dimensioni (fino a 1 l) e "bevande casearie" fresche e aromatizzate. Qualcosa come 35.000 t di PET sono attualmente utilizzate in Europa e Nord America e si prevede un consumo superiore ai 100.000 t a breve termine.
PET for dairy produce – a new study recently carried out by PCI shows that there are significant opportunities for PET in the packaging of milk and dairy products. According to the study, the potential market share could reach 500,000 tons in North America, and there is also good potential in Asia. The study identifies two new sectors: fresh milk in small containers (up to 1 litre) and fresh, flavoured “dairy drinks”. Something like 35,000 tonnes of PET is used at present in Europe and North America, and it is predicted that this will rise to more than 100,000 tonnes in a short time. |

Codificatore a getto d’inchiostro ad alta risoluzione
Willett International ha recentemente lanciato il codificatore a getto d’inchiostro ad alta risoluzione Willett 610, progettato per stampare grafici e codici a barre di alta qualità su imballaggi secondari. Questa apparecchiatura, che offre un’efficace ed economica alternativa alle etichette, senza compromettere l’affidabilità o la leggibilità dei codici a barre, utilizza un nuovo sistema ad autoinnesco e di pulizia della testa che elimina i problemi normalmente associati a questo tipo di codifica (sbavature, ecc.). Il sistema di rifornimento inchiostro, estremamente semplice e pulito, è stato progettato per perforare automaticamente le bottiglie di inchiostro chiuse ermeticamente e pre-caricate, in modo da ridurre al minimo l’intervento dell’operatore e i rischi di perdite. Il sistema di pulizia della Willett 610 è in grado di pulire la testa di stampa nel brevissimo intervallo che intercorre tra una stampa e l'altra, assicurando la stessa qualità dalla prima all’ultima. Grazie al sistema di pulizia testa installato sulla Willett 610 i difetti di accensione e i blocchi sono un ricordo del passato. High resolution ink jet printer
Willett International is launching the Willett 610 ultra-high resolution inkjet printer, which has been designed to print high quality graphics and barcodes onto secondary packaging and offers a low cost alternative to labels without sacrificing reliability or barcode scannability. It features novel self-priming and head cleaning technology which eliminate the problems of priming and dropped jets normally associated with outer-case coding. Fluid replenishment is clean, simple and straight forward with the 610 printer.
Its unique system has been designed to automatically pierce pre-loaded, foil-sealed ink bottles, minimising operator intervention and the associated hazards of spillage and waste.
The innovative head cleaning system of the 610 cleans the print head in the milliseconds between each print and each code is always as good as the last. Misfires and blockages are relegated to the dark ages by the innovative Willett head cleaning technology installed in the 610.
Up to 4 printheads can be driven by each 610 printer. Each printhead comprises 500 independently addressable jets and can print a 400 mm long by 70 mm high message with 180 dots per inch vertical resolution. They can print at over 33 m/minute whilst maintaining the 360 dots per inch horizontal resolution needed for barcodes.
The 610 is equipped with a colour touch screen and an easy to use interface; it works with BluePrint software for the creation of more sophisticated mixed graphics, barcodes and text messages. Networking capability is also available.

Dosatrici modulari compatte
L'ultima serie di dosatrici-chiuditrici per flaconi FM95 messa a punto in M.G.Zeta presenta un ingombro ridotto (600 x 800 mm) abbinato a caratteristiche tecniche tipiche dei monoblocchi più grandi. Queste macchine, infatti, sono in grado di superare i 4.000 flaconi/h (con capacità fino a un litro) e di posizionare i tappi con sistema pick and place. Inoltre, montano sistemi di avvitamento, bordatura e filettatura dei tappi d'alluminio di dimensioni molto compatte, progettati in M.G.Zeta. Attrezzabili con stazione per il dosaggio dell’azoto e di sistemi integrati per la pulizia dei flaconi, possono essere realizzate con controlli di tipo tradizionale o da touch screen, e dotate di teleassistenza. Gli appositi software assicurano un’ampia possibilità di regolazioni e, più in generale, il sistema informativo gestisce sia le funzioni di manutenzione ordinaria sia le statistiche relative alla produzione giornaliera.

Compact modular dosers
The latest FM95 series of dosing-closing machines for flacons devised by M.G.Zeta combine reduced bulk (600 x 800 mm) with typical technical characteristics of the large monoblocs. These machines in fact can exceed 4,000 bottles/h (capacity up to a litre) and position the tops with pick and place. They also have screw, edging and threading systems for compact aluminium tops, designed by M.G.Zeta. They can be equipped with nitrogen dosing stations and integrated systems for bottle cleaning, can be made with traditional or touch screen control systems, and fitted with teleassistance. Their special software ensures a broad possibility of control and more in general the data processing system handles both ordinary maintenance as well as statistics on daily production. A host of optional accessories can be provided - including cream dosing systems, tablet counters, turntables and labelers - all commanded and assisted by a software with network upgrading. The various parts of the machine are in stainless steel, but lightweight, enabling their installation in low weight tolerance work situations.

Tavolo di colaggio
applicato su un tavolo d'acciaio inox e munito di ruote, tutte le apparecchiature necessarie per effettuare il colaggio di bulk cosmetico.
Ideale per laboratori ricerca e piccole produzioni (anche pilota), questa attrezzatura comprende un fusore da 7,5 litri, riscaldato a olio tramite resistenze elettriche, che può essere attrezzato con coperchio normale o a tenuta a sollevamento pneumatico ed è dotato di agitatore a velocità variabile. Inoltre, è integrata con un dosatore con pompa a ingranaggi, riscaldato elettricamente, collegato al fusore e in grado di dosare da 0,1g/sec a 12 g/sec.
La regolazione della dosata può essere determinata tramite temporizzatore o predeterminando il numero di giri della pompa.
Il nastrino di trasporto dei contenitori, a velocità variabile, può fermarsi automaticamente in fase di dosata o funzionare in continuo.
Infine, la lampada di pre-riscaldamento è dotata di un sistema di intercettazione del calore per non danneggiare il nastro di trasporto quando è fermo. Tutte le apparecchiature sono controllate e comandate tramite quadro elettrico con relativo PLC, posto all’interno della struttura; l’impostazione dei parametri e i comandi si effettuano dal pannello operatore con display multirighe.
Pouring bench
Tecnicoll has concentrated and applied all the devices needed in pouring bulk cosmetics onto a stainless steel bench with wheels. Ideal for research labs and small outputs (even pills), the equipment includes a 7.5 litre melter, electronic resistance oil heated, that can come with normal or airtight pneumatically lifting lid with variable speed shaker.
As well as that it is integrated with a doser with gear pump, heated electrically, linked to the melter and capable of dosing from 0,1 g/sec to 12 g/sec.
The regulation of the doser can be by timer or by preset number of rotations of the pump. The variable speed container mini belt transporter can be made to stop automatically in the dosing phase or can run continuously.
Finally, the preheating lamp is fitted with a heat interception system in order not to damage the belt transporter when it has stopped.
All the devices are panel controlled and commanded with relative PLC placed inside the structure; the setting of parameters and commands are from a multi-line display operating panel.

Riordinatori con cambio formato istantaneo
Ha un nome geniale - Pico, che sta per Push Button Instant Changeover - è brevettato e Posimat lo ha creato per le serie di riordinatori superflessibili a marchio Posiflex e Posi-Switch.
Posiflex si compone di selezionatori e di imbuti regolabili su tutti i tipi di bottiglie, ed è particolarmente adatto alle aziende che effettuano frequenti cambi formato o che devono integrare la produzione con nuovi formati, come avviene tipicamente nel cosmetico, detergenza, chimica, ecc. Posi-Switch è invece ideale per le varie tipologie di liquidi alimentari ed è stato creato per lavorare con un predefinito numero di bottiglie cilindriche (anche se può essere adattato ad altre forme).
Grazie a Pico entrambi realizzano i cambi formato in un secondo, semplicemente premendo un pulsante del pannello di controllo che regola le stazioni di raddrizzamento (in Posiflex questa istantaneità si ottiene selezionando uno dei formati pre-registrati). Così concepite, le due macchine, che vantano già 80 installazioni in tutto il mondo, evitano di dover riordinare, estrarre e stoccare i differenti selezionatori e imbuti.
Ai modelli Posiflex e Posi-Switch si aggiungono i sistemi tradizionali di cambio formato Master e N, che non richiedono l'uso di utensili o regolazioni ma, semplicemente, di agganciare e sganciare i nuovi selezionatori e imbuti. Questa operazione richiede circa 30 secondi per ciascun componente.
Unscramblers with instant format change
With a catchy name, Pico - standing for Push Button Instant Changeover - has been created and patented by Posimat for its superflexible Posiflex and Posi-Switch unscrambler series.
Posiflex is made up of funnels and selectors that can be adjusted to suit all types of bottles, and it is particularly suited for companies that carry out frequent format changes or that have to integrate their output to new formats, as is typically the case in cosmetics, detergents, chemical products etc. Posi-Switch is in turn ideal for various types of food liquids and has been created to work with a preset number of cylindrical bottles (even if it can be suited to other formats).
Thanks to Pico both systems only require second-long format changes, by simply pressing a button on the control panel that regulates the aligning station (with Posiflex this instantaneous is obtained by selecting a pre-registered format). Thus conceived, the two machines, that boast 80 installations throughout the world, avoid unscrambling, extraction and storage of different selectors and funnels.
Posiflex and Posi-Switch are additions to the traditional Master and N format change systems, that do not require the use of tools or adjustments but only require the attachment and detatching of new selectors and funnels. This operation takes around 30 seconds for each component

Nuove da Sidel per i liquidi gassati
Il riempimento di liquidi gassati richiede una pressurizzazione delle bottiglie di PET che compromette la resistenza delle zone amorfe (come il fondo). Sidel ha messo a punto un procedimento di rinforzo in fase di sciacquatura, che evita deformazioni dei contenitori e ne aumenta in misura significativa la resistenza. Questa innovazione verrà valorizzata a Interpack, con la messa in mostra della macchina più veloce della nuova gamma di monoblocchi di soffiaggio-riempimento Combi CSD, ultimo sviluppo del concetto lanciato nel 1997, che ha già portato alla vendita di 60 macchine in tutti i segmenti del confezionamento di liquidi alimentari.
A Düsseldorf sarà in funzione una SRS-G 20/90/120/20 attrezzata con 20 stazioni di soffiaggio, 90 teste di risciacquo, 120 ugelli di riempimento e 20 stazioni di tappatura. Questo modello di Combi CSD raggiunge una velocità di 28.000 bottiglie da mezzo litro all'ora, presenta una sanificabilità superiore e permette di confezionare anche liquidi piatti. Inoltre, come gli altri Combi della casa, vanta un rendimento elevato, aumentato dal trasferimento "positivo" delle bottiglie dal collo; facilità di gestione (richiede un solo operatore) e cambi formato veloci; igiene controllata, anche nella gestione delle preforme e dei tappi.
Allo stand di Interpack il monoblocco sarà integrato con un'altra novità Sidel: l'ultima tavola d'accumulo-allineatore per la gestione dei flussi fra tappatura ed etichettatura, che presenta un ingombro ridotto del 30-40% rispetto alle soluzioni classiche. Questo sistema offre il duplice vantaggio di eliminare, in modo semplice, la pressione dei prodotti fra di loro e i rischi di inceppamento sulla tavola e sui convogliatori a monte e a valle, conservando al tempo stesso l'ordine di ingresso dei contenitori (First In First Out), con evidenti vantaggi di tracciabilità. L'apparecchiatura si autoregola e, in caso di problemi sull'etichettatrice, permette di mantenere la capacità di accumulo della riempitrice, evitando onerosi fermi macchina.
New Sidel for gaseous liquids
The filling of gaseous liquids requires a pressurization of the PET bottles that does not compromise the resistance in amorphous areas (like the bottom). Sidel has devised a reinforcement procedure in the rinse phase, that avoids deformation of the container and considerably increases its sturdiness. This innovation will be highlighted at Interpack, where the fastest machine in the new range of Combi CSD blow-fill monoblocs, latest development in the concept launched in 1997, that has already led to the sale of 60 machines in all segments of liquid packaging, will be on show.
At Düsseldorf a SRS-G 20/90/120/20 will be operational equipped with 20 blow stations, 90 rinser heads, 120 filling nozzles and 20 capping stations. This model of CSD Combi reaches a speed of 28,000 half litre bottles an hour, is highly sanifiable and enables the packaging of flat liquids. As well as that, like the other Combis produced by the company, it can boast high performance, increase of positive transfer of the bottle by the neck; easy to handle (only needs one operator) and speedy format change: controlled hygiene, also in the handling of preforms and tops.
At the Interpack stand the monobloc will be integrated with another Sidel new feature; the latest accumulator-aligner bench for handling flows between capping and labeling, that has 30-40% less bulk compared to the classic solutions. This system offers the double advantage of simply eliminating the pressure of the products against each other as well as the risk of the bench and the conveyors blocking upstream and downstream, preserving the inflow order at the same time (First in First Out), with evident advantages regarding traceability. The device is self-adjusting and in the event of problems regarding the labels, it enables the capacity to accumulate of the filler to be kept up, avoiding troublesome and costly machine stoppages.

Astucciatrice wrap-around
Curti lancia una nuova astucciatrice veloce, basata su sistema wrap-around che permette di contenere i costi e di ottenere una qualità superiore di finitura e di immagine. Denominata Astor Wr20, presenta una meccanica a sbalzo che ne aumenta l'igienicità e un cambio formato rapido, ma - soprattutto - presenta una concezione che comporta una riduzione dei costi fino al 15% rispetto agli astucci preincollati, e permette anche l'uso di cartone riciclato. Fra le peculiarità della nuova macchina della Curti si segnala il magazzino di grande capienza (contiene fino a 2.000 fustellati); il prelievo positivo dei fustellati e il loro snervamento progressivo, che assicura il buon funzionamento della macchina anche in presenza di fustellati poco incisi; la divaricazione meccanica del fustellato durante la fase di introduzione del prodotto; l'introduzione del prodotto dalla parte longitudinale dell'astuccio per una movimentazione più delicata. Caratteristiche tecniche: ruota ad asse orizzontale, ruota di prealimentazione, meccanica protetta da basamenti a tenuta stagna, nuovi standard di sicurezza e comfort per l'operatore, garanzie di integrità della confezione.
Wrap-around cartoning machine
Curti is launching its new speed cartoning machine, based on a wrap-around system that enables cost containment and obtainment of a top finishing quality and image. Called Astor Wr20, it has cantilevered mechanics that increases its hygiene and a rapid format change, but its conception aboveall entails a cost reduction of up to 15% compared to the preglued cases, and also enables the use of recycled cardboard. Among the peculiarities of Curti’s new machine one draws attention to the company’s largescale warehouse (it contains up to 2,000 dies); the positive pick-up of the dies and their progressive yielding that ensures the good running of the machine also in the presence of poorly engraved dies; the automatic retraction of the dies during the product introduction phase; the introduction of the product from the longitudinal side of the case for a more delicate handling. Technical features: horizontal axis rotations, prefeed rotations, mechanical parts protected by an airtight base, new safety and comfort standards for the operator, guaranteed unflawed pack.

Bobinatrici automatiche
Da più di 20 anni Calini S.r.l. produce bobinatrici automatiche per la produzione di rotoli senza bisogno di interventi manuali. Queste macchine sono indicate per tubi semirigidi di PE, poliolefine e poliammide, tubi flessibili con o senza inserto tessile di PVC o gomma e altro ancora. Tutti i tipi di macchina (ATB, Twin o Transfer) sono stati sviluppati per poter lavorare su tubi con diametro variabile fra 1 e 200 mm, soddisfacendo così le esigenze di tutti i fabbricanti con produzione standardizzata. A completamento della propria offerta, Calini sta sviluppando anche una linea di bobinatrici semiautomatiche, progettate tenendo conto delle nuove norme di sicurezza CE, nonché delle esigenze espresse dagli utilizzatori, in termini di velocità e facilità di scarico dei rotoli. In particolare, le norme CE indicano che ogni intervento sulla macchina deve essere effettuato fuori dalla zona di pericolo; in caso contrario, la bobina deve fermarsi. Per rispondere a tutte queste esigenze, Calini ha sviluppato una macchina semi-automatica con taglio e aggancio centralizzato. Le sue caratteristiche principali sono taglio automatico alla lunghezza prescritta, con rimessa a zero della bobinatrice; posizionamento automatico del guidatubo: scelta automatica della bobina libera; recupero automatico dell’accumulo. L'utilizzo risulta estremamente semplice, in quanto l'operatore si limita a prendere il capo del tubo, agganciarlo sulla bobina ferma e premere il tasto "Start".
Un altro sviluppo recente della Calini è il Robot scarica-rotolo, progettato con il preciso scopo di non entrare nella zona di pericolo. Grazie a questa macchina si preleva dalla bobina il rotolo finito e legato e lo si può depositare in un cartone, su un pallet o su un nastro trasportatore, a seconda delle esigenze.
Automatic winders
Calini S.r.l. has been producing automatic winders for the production of rolls without manual intervention for more than 20 years. These machines are suitable for semi-rigid PE, polyolefin and polyamide tubes, flexible tubes with and without a PVC or rubber textile insert and others besides. All the machine types (ATB, Twin or Transfer) have been developed to work with tubes of different diameters, ranging from 1 to 200 mm, thus satisfying the needs of all manufacturers with standardised production. Completing its offer, Calini is currently developing a line of semi-automatic winders designed to meet the new EC safety standards, as well as the specific needs of users in terms of speed and ease of removing the rolls. In particular, EC standards state that each intervention by the operator on the machine must be performed outside the danger zone; otherwise, the spool must automatically stop. To meet all these requirements, Calini has developed a semi-automatic machine with centralised cutting and hooking-up. Its salient features are automatic cutting to the required length, with resetting of the machine; automatic positioning of the tube guide: automatic choice of the free spool; automatic recovery of build-up. The machine is extremely easy to use, as all the operator needs to do is take hold of the end of the tube, hook it onto the still spool and then press "Start". Another recent development from Calini is the roll-delivery Robot, designed with the precise purpose of not having to enter the danger zone. Thanks to this machine, the finished, bound roll is taken off the spool and then placed in a box, on a pallet or on a conveyor belt as required.

Sistema di rilevamento colla
Il sistema di controllo qualità G-NET prodotto da Veritec, società acquisita da Nordson qualche anno fa, provvede al rilevamento e alla verifica della traccia di adesivo e al conteggio dei pezzi incollati, impiegando fino a otto sensori e quattro fotocellule. I sensori, brevettati, non richiedono l'aggiunta di additivi o coloranti nell'adesivo per rilevare la traccia colla; in questo modo gli adesivi mantengono inalterate le loro caratteristiche e assicurano risultati di incollaggio più costanti.
"Tali sensori - spiega Stefano Pistoni, sales specialist Paper & Paperboard Converting di Nordson - funzionano inoltre con un più ampio margine di tolleranza e con una risoluzione più elevata rispetto ai sensori basati su tecnologia laser o microonde, contribuendo a ridurre gli scarti durante la produzione e l'imballaggio dei prodotti. I pezzi difettosi si possono marcare o rimuovere tramite espulsore".
Il sistema di verifica G-NET è ideale per applicazioni ad alte velocità, come la produzione di scatole in cartone teso e ondulato, sacchi e sacchetti, buste e stampati vari per invii postali.
G-NET, inoltre, controlla e fa un resoconto della produzione per successive analisi delle operazioni e dei costi.
Glue revealing system
The G-NET quality control system produced by Veritec, company bought by Nordson some years back, sees to the scanning and checking for traces of glue and the counting of the pieces glued, using up to eight sensors and four photocells. The sensors, that are patented, do not require the addition of additives or dyes in the adhesive to reveal traces of glue; in this way the adhesives keep their features unaltered and ensure more constant gluing results. As Stefano Pistoni, Paper & Paperboard Converting sales specialist at Nordson, explains "These sensors also function with a broad margin of tolerance and with a higher resolution compared to the sensors based on laser or microwave technology, contributing to reducing waste during the production of packaging and products. The defective pieces can be marked or moved by expulsion device". The G-NET checking system is ideal for high-speed applications, such as the production of flat and corrugated cardboard boxes, bags and carrier bags, envelopes and various printed postal material. As well as that G-NET also controls and reviews production, enabling analysis of operations and costs.
