INNOVAZIONE DI PRODOTTO Una bilancia realizzata con materiale composito, tra cui il carbonio: leggera, facilmente trasportabile e personalizzabile, AIR nasce con tecnologia di derivazione aeronautica e aerospaziale.
IBR Industrie Bilance Riunite SpA (Varese) ha ottenuto il brevetto mondiale per la piattaforma di pesatura AIR, realizzata in materiale composito rinforzato in carbonio, kevlar, fiberglass, leghe leggere e resine. Frutto di due anni di ricerche sui materiali, realizzate in collaborazione con università e centri di ricerca, AIR si caratterizza per l’estrema leggerezza: facilmente trasportabile (non occorrono attrezzature per la movimentazione) ha un peso che varia dai 2 ai 30 kg, a seconda delle dimensioni. La riduzione di peso rispetto alle classiche bilance è notevole: ai circa 210 kg di una “vecchia bilancia”, corrisponde infatti un modello AIR equivalente di soli 11 kg. Questa soluzione IBR è disponibile in diverse versioni con dimensioni piattaforma comprese fra 40x40 e 150x150 cm, per un’altezza ridotta di 3 cm.
Sicurezza in ogni applicazione
Malgrado la sua snellezza, AIR è in grado di sopportare pesi fino a 1.500 kg. Inoltre, la resistenza dal punto di vista meccanico alle sollecitazioni più estreme è migliore rispetto alle piattaforme in acciaio presenti ad oggi sul mercato. I materiali compositi offrono poi il vantaggio di non ossidare, garantendo quindi lunga durata anche in condizioni estreme con presenza di acqua, come negli ambienti umidi o all’aperto. A conferma della sua flessibilità, le cover sono disponibili in diversi colori e personalizzabili con immagini e loghi, e sono intercambiabili. Quella standard è già antigraffio, ed è ideale in ambienti umidi e ricchi d’acqua; a richiesta sono disponibili altre cover speciali, come quelle in kevlar contro gli strisciamenti o quelle certificate per l’industria alimentare. In ultimo, AIR è stata studiata per ottimizzare e ridurre al massimo i costi di manutenzione rispetto alle comuni bascule.
Investimenti di peso
Nata dall’unione di tre aziende (Quadrelli Bilanciai Italia, Laveggio e Buroni & Opessi) IBR può essere considerata un caso di eccellenza nel panorama industriale italiano, per la sua volontà di reagire alla fase di stagnazione economica generale e aggredire quote sempre nuove di mercato attraverso continui investimenti nelle acquisizioni, nella ricerca e innovazione. La chiusura del bilancio 2005 con un +20% di fatturato rispetto al 2004, e l’ulteriore +40% dei primi tre mesi del 2006, sono i primi risultati quanto mai soddisfacenti.

PRODUCT INNOVATION A scales made with composite materials, including carbon: light, easily transportable and personalisable, AIR has been created from aeronautical and aerospace related technology.
IBR Industrie Bilance Riunite SpA (Varese) has obtained the world patent for the AIR weighing platform, made in composite material reinforced in carbon, keylar, fiberglass, light alloys and resins. The result of two years of study on materials, made in cooperation with universities and study centres, AIR features extreme lightness: easily transportable (no equipment is needed to move it) its weight varies from 2 to 30 kg, depending on the size. The weight reduction compared to the classic scales is considerable: with the “old” scales weighing 210 kg, the AIR model equivalent weighs only 11 kg. This IBR solution is available in various versions with platform size from between 40x40 and 150x150 cm, and reduced height of 3 cm.
Safety in any application
Despite its slim build, AIR can take weights of up to 1,500 kg. As well as that, its extreme mechanical shock resistance is better compared to the steel platforms present today on the market. The composite materials also offer the advantage of not rusting, hence also guaranteeing a long life in extreme conditions where water Is present, like in damp environments or out in the open. To confirm its flexibility, the covers are available in different colors and can be personalised with images and logos that can be changed. The standard cover is scratch resist, and is ideal for damp environments where water is present; on demand other special covers are available like that in Kevlar against scraping or those certified for the food industry. Lastly, AIR has been devised to optimise and reduce maintenance costs to the max compared to common scales.
Weighty investments
Born out of the union between three concerns (Quadrelli Bilanciai Italia, Laveggio and Buroni & Opessi) IBR can be considered a case of excellence in the Italian industrial panorama, for its will to react to the general phases of economic stagnation and grab ever greater shares of the market through continuous investment in buy-ups, in research and innovation. The concern is already putting in good results with the closing of their balance in 2005 showing a +20% turnover compared to 2004 and the further 40% increase in the first three months of 2006.
Software di controllo dati
In collaborazione con un nome di spicco per quanto riguarda i sistemi di pesatura, Inspiring Software ha “verticalizzato” la propria soluzione per la raccolta e l’archiviazione dei dati FDS (Factory DataStorage), affinché fosse perfettamente idonea all’applicazione su fine linea. Implementato anche presso uno dei più importanti operatori logistici, questo sistema acquisisce in maniera automatica dimensioni, volume e codice a barre (o tag RFID) dei colli o dei pallet che transitano sulle linee. Questo consente di fornire al sistema gestionale tutte le informazioni necessarie alla fatturazione, ma anche la possibilità di indagare i dati per riscontrare, ad esempio, i clienti più profittevoli, le tratte più trafficate, i volumi medi dei colli o eventuali criticità del processo.
• A livello hardware si sono utilizzati strumenti per la movimentazione, la pesatura e la “lettura” (scanner, barriere cargo) di ogni singolo collo, i cui sistemi di controllo sono interfacciati con il software per la raccolta e l’elaborazione dei dati. Questi ultimi vengono acquisiti e archiviati attraverso il software FDS per essere analizzati, creare report o essere trasferiti ad altri applicativi. FDS, infatti, è un moderno modulo MES in grado di recepire i dati da più sorgenti (OPC Collector, Custom Collector, File Collector ODBC Collector, tag RFID), archiviarli e interfacciarsi con il sistema gestionale, WMS e CMMS. La visualizzazione dei dati è consentita anche durante il processo di acquisizione, sia in formato grafico sia a tabelle. Sui dati raccolti possono anche essere calcolati i KPI’s e realizzati report ad hoc per un efficiente rintracciabilità delle informazioni.
• FDS è stato progettato per sfruttare anche la nuova tecnologia RFID: in questo caso la soluzione assume le caratteristiche di un vero e proprio Middleware, ossia un’intelligenza intermedia il cui compito è trattare i dati raccolti, verificarli e aggregarli per renderli utilizzabili nel modo ottimale. Le nuove funzionalità di FDS consentono la gestione della comunicazione tra il lettore RFID e il database, il filtraggio e la validazione delle informazioni, la gestione degli eventi e della comunicazione verso le applicazioni gestionali.
FDS è sviluppato con architettura web based che garantisce bassi costi di gestione e semplicità d’uso, in quanto il browser web è l’unico strumento che l’utente deve conoscere.
Data control software
In cooperation with a leading name as far as the weighing system is concerned, Inspiring Software has “verticalised” its own FDA (Factory DataStorage) solution for data capture and storage to make it perfectly suited for end-of-line applications. Also implemented with one of the most important logistics operators, this system automatically captures size, volume and barcode (or RFID tag) of the items or pallets that transit along the lines. This means the management system can be provided with all the invoicing data, but can also search the data for example for the most profitable customers, the most travelled routes, the average pack volume or any critical process features.
• At a hardware level tools are used for handling, weighing and “reading” (scanner, cargo barrier) each single item, the control systems of which are interfaced with the data capture and processing software. The data is captured and stored via FDS software to be analysed, to create reports or to be transferred to other applicatives. FDS in fact is a modern MES module capable of receiving data from several sources (OPC Collector, Custom Collector, File Collector ODBC Collector, tag RFID), to store them and interface with WMS and CMMS management systems. Data display is also possible during capture, both in graphic as well as in table form. The KPI’s can also be calculated on the data captured and special reports can be made for efficient information traceability.
• FDS was designed in order to also exploit the new RFID technology: in this case the solution takes on the features of a true and proper Middleware, or that is an intermediate intelligence whose task is to process the data collected, check and assemble the same to make it as usable as possible. The new FDS functions enable running of communication between the RFID reader and the database, filtering and validation of the information, running of events and the communication towards management applications. FDS is supplied with web based architecture that guarantees low management costs and is also simple to use, inasmuch as the web browser is the only tool the user has to be acquainted with.
Misurazione per stampa in automatico
Isimat presenta RS 6460 TP, una macchina da stampa a sei colori in serigrafia ideale per stampare con facilità sulle bottiglie. È infatti in grado di riconoscere misurare la forma dell’area da stampare, e usare poi questi dati per regolare in modo automatico le stazioni di stampa. Con i dati relativi alla forma della superficie da stampare, la macchina sincronizza la rotazione di oltre 30 servo motori che consentono una stampa accurata su vetro tondo, ovale e quadrato, nonché su plastica cava, alla velocità di 60 pz/min. Un operatore può inserire le coordinate dei punti dell’area di stampa, oppure (quando i dati non sono disponibili) è la macchina stessa a misurare la forma della sezione trasversale ruotando la bottiglia sotto un sensore ottico. In entrambi i casi, la forma della sezione trasversale viene visualizzata sul touch screen.
Ogni stazione di stampa può stampare su diverse sezioni della bottiglia durante una singola passata della macchina. Il modello RS 6460 TP, in particolare, è configurato per stampare con smalto ceramico su bottiglie di vetro e stoviglie (ACL). La RS 6460 UV è invece predisposta con un sistema di essiccazione per inchiostri UV, e può inoltre essere equipaggiata con una stazione di trattamento Isimat UVitro® per stampa su vetro e plastica, o in alternativa pretrattamento fiamma/corona per plastica.
Measuring for automatic printing
Isimat presents the RS 6460 TP, a six-colour screen printing machine that (for printing on a bottle) can measure the shape of a cross section within a printing area and use the data to automatically preset the printing stations for a new print job. Every machine in the RS 6460 series features a rotary indexing table and individual servo motors for each screen and each fixture; and with the data of the item’s shape it can synchronise the rotations of 30 servo motors during printing on round, square, and oval glass or plastic hollowware. Production speed is up to 60 items/min. An operator can input the polar coordinates of points of a printing area cross section, or - when the data is not available - the machine can measure the shape of a cross section by rotating a bottle under an optical sensor. In both cases, the shape of the cross section can be displayed on the touch screen.
Each printing station can print onto a different cross section of a bottle during one machine pass, this makes it unnecessary to have more than one machine pass. An RS 6460 TP is configured for printing with ceramic enamels onto glass bottles and tableware (ACL). An RS 6460 UV is fitted with a UV drying system for printing with UV inks, and it can have either an Isimat UVitro® surface treatment station for printing onto glass and plastic, or a flaming / corona pre-treatment station for printing onto plastic only.
Controllo spessore
Agr International arricchisce la propria gamma di strumenti per la misurazione con gli indicatori di spessore MBT7200 e MBT7400 (MBT™). Questi strumenti portatili possono misurare tutti i tipi di materiale non ferroso con spessore fino a 10 mm. Il sensore MBT può essere usato per misurare tutti i tipi di oggetti, compresi contenitori e prodotti stampati a prescindere dalla forma e dalle dimensioni e, in particolare, è ideale per le “parti difficili” come base e spalle delle bottiglie, aree decorate, forme complesse e angoli spigolosi.
Una delle principali caratteristiche di MBT è il particolare design delle sonde: queste, infatti, sono del tipo “SIDPS elaborazione del segnale digitale incorporata”. In altri termini, tutti i segnali di misurazione sono processati all’interno del sensore stesso, e solo dopo esser stati elaborati, i dati sono inviati all’unità di base per la visualizzazione sul display, l’analisi statistica e la memorizzazione. Perciò, a differenza degli strumenti analogici, si riduce l’eventualità di alterazione dei dati durante il trasferimento lungo il cavo.
Thickness control
Agr International introduces the all-new MBT7200 and MBT7400 Thickness Gauges (MBT™) to its family of measurement products. This portable device is based upon the “Hall Effect” principal and offers the capability to measure all types of non-ferrous materials up to 10 mm thick. The MBT can be used for all types of products including containers and molded products regardless of size and shape. The MBT is particularly useful for measuring the unique attributes found in bottles and containers that are typically difficult to measure accurately, such as heel, base and shoulder regions, decorated areas, small radii, complex shapes and sharp corners.
One of the most profound features of the MBT is in the design of the sensor probes. These incorporate a process called “integrated digital signal processing SIDPS”, where all measuring signals are created and completely processed inside the sensor itself. Only completely processed digital readings are transferred to the base unit for display, statistical analysis and storage. Unlike analog devices, error influences on the measuring data during transfer over the cable (signal to noise ratio) are substantially reduced.
Aria, 100% senza olio
La Divisione Oil-free Air di Atlas Copco (filiale italiana a Cinisello Balsamo, MI) ha annunciato che «la serie Z di compressori rotativi a vite privi di olio è la prima al mondo ad aver ricevuto la certificazione TÜV ISO 8573-1 Classe 0: il rischio di contaminazione da olio è stato completamente eliminato. La certificazione è stata condotta in conformità ai più severi metodi di verifica disponibili, in grado di simulare gli ambienti degli impianti industriali. In nessuna delle condizioni di analisi è stata rilevata traccia di olio, tanto che all’aria compressa è stata conferita la certificazione di “Classe 0” in termini di contenuto di olio».
• La procedura di certificazione per i compressori in conformità allo standard ISO 8573-1 era stata avviata nel 2005 dalla Divisione Oil-free Air di Atlas Copco, per rispondere con chiarezza alla crescente preoccupazione manifestata dai clienti per la tutela dei processi industriali e dei prodotti finiti. La contaminazione causata da tracce anche solo infinitesimali di olio, infatti, può compromettere intere o singole partite di prodotti, causare un numero elevato di restituzioni e comportare onerosi fermi macchina e costosi interventi di bonifica. I settori più coinvolti sono l’alimentare e beverage, il farmaceutico, l’elettronica, l’automotive (verniciatura a spruzzo) e il tessile.
• Per valutare i compressori serie Z sono stati impiegati i test più severi. Ad esempio, è stato applicato il metodo di flusso completo, Parte 2 B1 dello standard, che esamina l’intero flusso di aria, misurando sia gli aerosol che il flusso lungo la parete. La misurazione dei vapori è stata affidata alla rigorosa metodologia prevista dalla Parte 5. Un aspetto che compromette l’efficienza e la purezza dei sistemi ad aria è la temperatura: mentre il metodo di valutazione previsto dallo standard ISO 8573-1 adotta come parametri di riferimento valori di 20 °C e 1 bar, i test condotti sui compressori Z oil free di Atlas Copco sono stati eseguiti anche a temperature di 40 °C e 50 °C e alla pressione di 8 bar nel punto di misura.
Air, 100% oil free
The Oil-free Air division of Atlas Copco (Italian branch at Cinisello Balsamo, MI) has announced that the Z series of oil-less screw roto compressors is the first in the world to have received TÜV ISO 8573-1 Classe 0 certification: the risk of oil contamination has been completely eliminated. The certification has been carried out in conformity to the most severe control methods available, capable of simulating industrial system environments. In none of the conditions of analysis was any trace of oil revealed, to the point where the compressed air was given “Class 0” certification in terms of oil content.
• The certification procedure for the compressor in conformity to ISO 8573-1 standard was started up in 2005 by the Oil-free Air Division of Atlas Copco to clearly respond to the growing worry shown by the customers for the protection of industrial processes and of the end products. The contamination caused by merely infinitesimal traces of oil can in fact jeopardise entire and single product batches, cause a high number of returns and entail costly machine stops and reclaiming operations. The sectors most involved are food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, electronics, automotive (spray lacquers) and textile.
• To rate series Z compressors the most severe tests have been used. For example, the complete flow method has been applied, Part 2 B1 of the standard, that examines the entire air flow, measuring both the aerosol and the flow along the wall. The measuring of vapours has been entrusted to the rigorous methodology laid down in Part 5. An aspect that compromises the efficiency and the purity of the air system and the temperature: while the method of rating laid down by the ISO 8573-1 standard uses as reference parameter values of
20 °C and 1 bar, the tests carried out on Atlas Copco oil free Z compressors were also carried out at 40 °C and 50 °C at a pressure of 8 bar in the measure point.
Il controllo dei controlli
Doss ha di recente messo a punto un nuovissimo software, progettato dallo staff di ingegneri e tecnici dell’azienda in collaborazione con il partner SIGVE: D2W sta per “Door To the Workshop”, nome che riassume il concetto di una porta sempre aperta sul magazzino e il reparto di produzione. L’idea alla base di questo progetto, costato alcuni mesi di lavoro e di recente immesso sul mercato, è di costituire una rete di condivisione dei dati che i singoli sistemi di ispezione installati sulle macchine rilevano. In questo modo l’azienda che si dota di D2W ottiene elaborazioni, statistiche, analisi, report, previsioni sull’andamento delle singole macchine e su quello generale del reparto produzione.
L’evoluzione di D2W consiste anche nell’aver abbattuto tempi e costi di un controllo “umano”, fino a non molto tempo fa indispensabile.
Questo software infatti non richiede più la presenza di personale qualificato che stabilmente vigili sugli impianti e sulle macchine per intervenire qualora necessario.
Il sistema di videosorveglianza controlla l’andamento della produzione e, a fronte di eventi straordinari codificati (il più evidente è il fermo macchina, ma potrebbe essere anche la presenza di materiale estraneo a quello della filiera di produzione, un’interruzione dell’energia elettrica, un incidente particolare sulla linea produttiva), viene attivato e manda segnali di allarme al personale addetto. Questi messaggi possono essere inviati sia sotto forma di sms o di mms a telefoni cellulari, sia di e-mail, magari corredate da immagini statiche o sequenze filmate, tramite internet.
Per il responsabile dell’azienda è possibile, tramite il software D2W, non solo essere informato tempestivamente in merito a situazioni di pericolo o allarme in azienda, ma anche consultare, in qualsiasi momento e con la stessa rapidità, dati, informazioni, statistiche, analisi elaborate dal sistema e rese estemporaneamente disponibili a chi di dovere. I dati delle singole macchine di produzione sono trasformati istantaneamente e in qualunque momento in informazioni preziose.
Control of controlling
Doss has recently devised a totally new software, designed by the firm’s staff of engineers and technicians in cooperation with their partner SIGVE: D2W stands for “Door To the Workshop”, name that sums up the concept of a door always open to the warehouse and production works. The idea at the basis of this project, that has taken up some months of work and recently placed on the market, is made up of a network of data sharing that the single inspection systems installed on the machine capture. In this way the company that equips itself with D2W gets processing, statistics, analyses, reports, forecasts on the run of the single machines and on a general one on the production section.
The evolution of D2W consists also in having reduced times and costs of a “human” control, indispensable up to not long ago. This software in fact no longer demands the presence of qualified personnel that stably oversees the systems and on the machines to intervene when necessary. The video surveillance system controls the run of the production and, in the event of extraordinary coded events (the most evident being machine stop, but it could also be the presence of extraneous material to that used in the production section, a power cut, a particular accident along the production line), the system sends an alarm signal to the personnel in question.
These messages can both be sent in the form of sms or mms to cel phones, as well as email, that can also be accompanied by still photos or filmed sequences, this via internet.
Thus the company head can, via the D2W software, not only be informed speedily as to the situation of danger or alarm in the concern, but he can also consult, at any moment and with the same rapidity, data, information, statistics, analyses processed by the system and made available to those concerned. The data of each production machine is instantly converted at any time into precious information.
Ordine e controllo
In occasione di ProcessExpo, la fiera dedicata al processo alimentare che si svolge a Chicago (29/10-2/11/06) assieme a PackExpo, Key Technology presenta il riordinatore ad alto volume Optyx® 6000 Series Sorter con tecnologia laser Raptor. Caratterizzato da una doppia piattaforma che “imbriglia” la potenza del motore Key G6, Optyx 6000 Raptor verifica anche i più piccoli difetti e i corpi estranei, garantendo un’assoluta qualità assieme alla massima produttività. E in quanto primo riordinatore laser a grande portata con la stessa alta risoluzione tipica dei “narrow-belt”, Optyx 6000 Raptor si propone come un nuovo standard. Questo riordinatore di Key Technology può lavorare con cibi freschi e surgelati, frutta secca e verdure, comprese patate congelate, noccioline e uva passa, oltre ad altri alimenti, alla velocità di 40,000 libbre/h (circa18 t/h) secondo l’applicazione.
Sorting and detecting
Key Technology introduces the new high-volume Optyx® 6000 Series Sorter with Raptor Laser Technology at ProcessExpo, the food processing show co-located with PackExpo (Chicago, 29 October - 2 November 2006). Featuring a doublewide platform that harnesses the horsepower of Key’s G6 engine, Optyx 6000 Raptor detects the smallest defects and foreign material to optimize product quality and maximize food safety at double the throughput. As the first wide-belt laser sorter to maintain the high resolution of the finest narrow-belt laser sorters, Optyx 6000 Raptor sets a new standard.
Optyx 6000 Raptor can sort fresh, frozen and dried fruits and vegetables, including frozen potato products, tree nuts, raisins and other food products at production rates of up to 40,000 pounds (18 metric tons) per hour, depending on the application.
Un’ispezione snella
La produzione snella, detta in modo semplice, è una strategia operativa che punta a incrementare le lavorazioni a valore aggiunto e a ridurre invece gli sprechi. Per diventare più snelle, le aziende hanno perciò implementato concetti come cicli di produzione più brevi e lavorazione just in time: operazioni che eliminano gli sprechi grazie alla riduzione degli intervalli fra progettazione e produzione, nonché degli inventari. Per quanto riguarda, nello specifico, i sistemi di ispezione, è chiaro che anche questi devono essere snelli. Infatti, per assicurare ispezioni chiare e accurate in queste condizioni, i sistemi di visione devono essere più potenti e modulari. Cicli di produzione più brevi e consegne just in time, inoltre, significano un numero maggiore di cambi formato non previsti; dunque, i sistemi di visione devono garantire tempi di settaggio molto rapidi e facilità di utilizzo. Altro aspetto essenziale, la necessità di standard condivisi, in quanto questi sistemi devono essere flessibili e aperti a successivi upgrade per una serie di prodotti. Se questi aspetti non possono essere soddisfatti, allora anche i sistemi di visione diventano uno spreco. E poiché molte aziende continuano a modificare l’imballaggio dei loro prodotti, integrando strumenti di anti-contraffazione o altre soluzioni per la gestione della catena di fornitura (per esempio RFID, codice a barre...), i sistemi di ispezione devono essere adeguati e garantire prestazioni sempre superiori. A lean inspection
By definition, lean manufacturing is an operational strategy that increases value-added work by eliminating waste. To become “leaner”, many companies have implemented concepts such as smaller production runs and just-in-time manufacturing. These lean concepts eliminate waste through reducing lead times and inventories. For vision inspection systems to meet today’s lean performance requirements, they must also be lean. To ensure that consistent accurate inspections are carried out under these conditions, vision systems require enhanced, scalable inspection capabilities. Secondly, smaller production runs and just-in-time manufacturing mean more unscheduled product changeovers on lines; therefore, vision systems require quick set up times, while being user-friendly. Thirdly, these concepts pushes up the vision systems’ required standards even further. These systems must also be flexible and upgradeable across multiple products. If vision inspection systems don’t meet these standards for lean lines, then they are simply a source of waste.
As pharmaceutical companies continue to modify product packaging by integrating anti-counterfeit devices (eg. RFID tags) and supply line management solutions (eg. 2-D bar codes), the inspection and performance requirements for vision inspection systems will continue to increase. Therefore, working on getting a line leaner is one thing, but staying lean will require a bit of forethought when it comes to choosing the right vision system.

Strumenti di misurazione
Azienda spin-off dell’Università degli Studi di Pisa, ExtraSolution produce strumenti per la misura della barriera ai gas di film, sacchetti, vaschette, bottiglie ed altri oggetti come tappi e rubinetti utilizzati nel confezionamento alimentare e farmaceutico. La linea Perm di ExtraSolution comprende apparati per la misura della permeabilità all’ossigeno (O2TR), al vapor d’acqua (WVTR) e all’anidride carbonica (CO2TR).
• MultiPerm è il modello di punta della strumentazione ExtraSolution, offerto con due sensori a scelta tra ossigeno, vapor d’acqua e anidride carbonica, in versione sia a singola che a doppia cella di misura. Oltre ad effettuare misure di permeabilità su film sottili, MultiPerm può essere equipaggiato con gli accessori modulari fornibili a parte, per eseguire misure su contenitori per il packaging alimentare.

• CarboPack BT è il nuovo prodotto di ExtraSolution per la misura della shelf-life su bottiglie o contenitori per bevande addizionate di anidride carbonica. Da oggi è possibile eseguire un test non distruttivo su singola bottiglia, in un tempo estremamente rapido (circa un’ora) e conoscere la quantità di anidride carbonica persa per giorno. Il dispositivo è completamente automatico ed è in grado di misurare sia le perdite (ad es. provenienti dai tappi) che le permeazioni del gas attraverso il materiale plastico di cui è costituito l’oggetto da analizzare. Inoltre fornisce il risultato grafico della permeazione e la shelf-life prevista.
Come tutta la strumentazione ExtraSolution anche questo prodotto si posiziona al vertice della categoria sia per le prestazioni (risoluzione di 0,0013 cc/die) che per l’estrema facilità d’uso. Non sono richieste competenze tecniche specifiche per il funzionamento dello strumento che viene fornito completo di computer PC con schermo LCD e stampante a colori.
Instruments for measuring
ExtraSolution is a spin-off company of the University of Pisa and produces instruments for measuring barriers to gases through films, bags, trays, bottles and other objects such as caps and taps used in food or pharmaceutical packaging. • CarboPack BT is the new ExtraSolution’s product for testing shelf-life of bottles or container filled with carbonated beverages. Now it is possible to perform non destructive test on a single bottle in a extremely short time (about 1 hour) to know the amount of loss of carbon dioxide in a day. The instrument is fully automatic and is able to perform both leakages (i.e. from the stopper) and gas permeation test through the plastic material of which the testing object is constituted. CarboPack BT displays graphic results of the permeation and the forecast shelf-life. As all other ExtraSolution’s instruments, also this product stands out at the top of the category both for performances (resolution 0.0013 cc/die) and for the user friendly interface. For the right functioning of the instrument there is no need of any specific technical skills. The instrument is equipped with PC, LCD display and colour ink-jet printer.
Per una selezionatrice ponderale
Motor Power Company ha progettato una soluzione personalizzata per una selezionatrice ponderale Thermo Ramsey, destinata alla movimentazione e alla pesatura di prodotti alimentari e farmaceutici.
Thermo Ramsey aveva la necessità di disporre di un sistema completo, capace di soddisfare le esigenze di flessibilità e affidabilità, associate al controllo del peso ad alta velocità, con la massima precisione. In questo caso, “flessibilità” si traduceva nella possibilità di personalizzare velocemente la macchina secondo le specifiche dell’utente finale, attraverso i cambi formato. L’altra esigenza era di minimizzare le vibrazioni, perché non interferissero nelle operazioni di pesatura.
Collaborazione di successo - Il sistema oggi implementato sulle selezionatrici Thermo Ramsey, studiato e proposto da Motor Power Company, prevede dunque movimentazioni tramite motori brushless che garantiscono effettiva flessibilità: l’applicazione offre infatti un ampio spettro di portata, per carichi fino a 25 kg, oltre alla possibilità di programmare la macchina sia a basse che ad alte velocità (da 4 fino a 120 m/min). Il motore brushless, a norma GMP con tutti i requisiti necessari per l’applicazione in ambito alimentare, ha un grado di protezione IP67 ed è idoneo ai lavaggi con acqua.
• Diversi i vantaggi rispetto al tradizionale motore a corrente continua: l’assenza di spazzole o di elementi striscianti comporta una sensibile riduzione della manutenzione, senza poi dimenticare l’assenza di polveri.
Compattezza, lunghezza, vibrazioni e peso ridotti, inoltre, sono elementi fondamentali per una maggiore precisione nella pesatura. La superficie liscia del motore garantisce la massima pulizia che il settore food esige, mentre la verniciatura, anticorrosiva, non è nociva per le sostanze alimentari.

Un servizio Thermo Ramsey
Sull’onda di esperienze europee consolidate, he presso la Thermo Ramsey Tecnoeuropa di Parma - uno dei “centri di eccellenza” della multinazionale, vocato alla produzione di selezionatrici ponderali - è stato avviato un servizio conto terzi che intende offrire un supporto concreto a produttori “in difficoltà”. Si tratta di PIS, un servizio certificato di ispezione (che sfrutta metal detector e sistemi a raggi X messi a disposizione da Goring Kerr, altra società del gruppo) che intende offrire ai produttori di beni di consumo la possibilità di verificare e controllare interi lotti di produzione che si sospettano contaminati. L’unità è strutturata per intervenire su numerose tipologie di beni, dai farmaceutici ai cosmetici, dagli alimenti alle bevande. Operando, ovviamente, all’insegna della massima riservatezza, le aziende sono così sollevate dall’onere di dotarsi degli strumenti necessari alle ispezioni e possono contare anche su un servizio di “ri-confezionamento” a posteriori, così che, dopo i controlli, il prodotto possa essere avviato ai normali canali distributivi.
A Thermo Ramsey service
Hence in the wake of consolidated European experience, at Thermo Ramsey Tecnoeuropa, Parma - one of the multinational’s “centres of excellence”, dedicated to the production of ponderal checkweighers - a contract service has also been started up that intends offering concrete support to producers “in difficulty”. We are talking about PIS (Product Inspection Service), a certified product inspection service using metal detectors and X ray systems made available by Goring Kerr, company of the group. The objective is offering consumer goods producers the possibility of checking and controlling entire production lots that are suspected of being contaminated. The special PIS unit is structured for interventions on numerous types of goods, from pharmaceuticals to cosmetics, from foodstuffs to beverages, obviously working with the greatest discretion. PIS relieves the company of the burden of having to equip itself with the tools needed for inspection and on demand, ensuring a repackaging so that after the controls the product can be sent to the normal distribution channels.

For a ponderal checkweigher
Motor Power Company has designed a personalised solution destined for a Thermo Ramsey ponderal checkweigher, to handle and weigh food and pharmaceutical products.
Thermo Ramsey needed a complete system capable of satisfying the needs for flexibility and reliability along with high speed weight checking with maximum accuracy. In this case “flexibility” meant speedily personalising the machine through format change with few adjustments. The other need was that of virtually “zero vibrations” so as not to interfere with the checkweigh operations.
Successful cooperation - The system implemented on Thermo Ramsey ponderal checkweigher, devised and offered by Motor Power Company, entails movement on brushless motors that guarantee full flexibility: the application in fact offers a broad range of capacities for loads up to 25 kg, as well as the possibility of programming the machine at both low and high speeds (from 4 up to 120 m/min). The brushless motor, that meets GMP standards with all the requisites needed for application in the food sector, has IP67 grade protection and is resistant to cleaning with water.
• Using brushless motors offers many advantages compared to the traditional continuous current motor: the absence of brushes or sliding elements means both reducing maintenance and absence of dust. Compactness, length, vibrations and low weight are only some of the main elements that enable greater weighing accuracy. The motor has been designed with a smooth surface to guarantee the max cleanliness demanded in the food sector. Its lacquer coating is anticorrosive and does not harm food substances.
Un sensore tattile
Sensor Products LLC presenta Pressurex®, un sensore tattile d’indicazione di forza pensato per aiutare i brand nei processi di Ricerca e Sviluppo, progettazione e controllo qualità, al fine di fornire una confezione la più convincente e fantasiosa possibile. Pressurex permette infatti di valutare il grado e la distribuzione della compressione tra due superfici combacianti, a contatto o in collisione, ed è virtualmente indispensabile sia per il controllo del processo produttivo, sia per l’ispezione di macchine e componenti. La pellicola trova applicazione anche nel controllo qualità, come ad esempio nella convalida e taratura dello stampaggio nel confezionamento di medicinali e nel rispetto delle norme GMP, rilevando punti deboli, canali e pieghe nella superficie di sigillo.
Pressurex, inoltre, è di valido aiuto nella verifica e rilevazione della distribuzione della pressione per preparazione di attrezzature, manutenzione preventiva e sostituzione prodotto per svariati sistemi di confezionamento (form-fill-seal, deposit-fill-seal e CAP/MAP…). La possibilità di valutare tali pressioni garantisce ai tecnici la sicurezza di una sigillatura uniforme, adeguata registrazione, riproduzione visiva, qualità generale di stampa e altro ancora. Il sensore si presenta come un ampio foglio sottile Mylar, molto simile nell’aspetto a un foglio di carta. Quando viene collocato fra due superfici combacianti, cambia colore immediatamente e in maniera permanente. L’intensità del colore è direttamente proporzionale alla quantità di forza applicata. È possibile determinare l’esatto rapporto libbre per pollice quadrato o kg/cm2 confrontando la variazione di colore con un diagramma di taratura colore, simile all’interpretazione di un foglio di carta al tornasole (lacmo). Sensor Products LLC è in grado di personalizzare Pressurex per qualsiasi tipo di applicazione, tagliando con il laser la pellicola in caso di aree limitate o di precisione, fornendo inoltre servizi di imballaggio in caso di utilizzo in ambienti dove siano presenti acqua, olio o altri liquidi. La società fornisce sistemi avanzati di imaging ottico per una valutazione più dettagliata tramite il proprio sistema di analisi Topaq®, disponibile anche per il noleggio o l’acquisto.
A tactile sensor
Sensor Products LLC presents Pressurex®, a tactile force indicating sensor devised for helping the brands in the process of R&D, design and quality control, so as to produce the most convincing and imaginative packs possible. Pressurex in fact enables the rating of the degree of compression distributed between adjoining-, contacting or colliding sides and is virtually indispensable both for the control of the production process as well as for inspection of machines and components. The film also finds application in quality control, as for example in convalidating and taring pressing and punching operations for the medicinal packs and in respect of GMP standards, showing up weakpoints, channels and folds in the seal surface.
Pressurex also offers valid help in the checking and sensing of the pressure distribution for preparing equipment, preventive maintenance and production replacement for various packaging systems (form-fill-seal, deposit-fill-seal e CAP/MAP…). Being able to rate these pressures gives technicians the guarantee of a uniform seal, correct registration, visual reproduction, general print quality and a lot more.
The sensor is in the form of a broad thin Mylar sheet, looking very much like a sheet of paper. When it is placed between two adjoining surfaces, it changes color immediately and permanently. The intensity of the color is directly proportional to the quantity of force applied. The exact ratio pounds per square inch or kg/cm2 can be obtained comparing the color variations with the color rating diagram, similar to the interpretation of litmus (Iacmo) paper. Sensor Products LLC is capable of personalising Pressurex for any type of application, cutting the film with the area in the event of limited area or accuracy, also providing packaging services in the event of use in environments where water, oil and other liquids are present. The company provides advanced systems of optical imaging for a more detailed rating through its own Topaq® analysing system, also available for hire or purchase.
Estrusione di film a bolla
Soddisfatta della partecipazione al Plast, lo scorso febbraio (“buona affluenza di visitatori, soprattutto di qualità, e un crescente numero di potenziali clienti italiani”), Torninova punta l’attenzione su un impianto esposto alla fiera milanese.
Torninova Costruzioni Meccaniche (Bastia Umbra, PG) ha messo a punto Power Bubble, un impianto (1) che si contraddistingue per le seguenti caratteristiche:
• estrusori dotati di motori a corrente alternata montati in asse e con viti universali in acciaio anti-usura, con profilo modulare a tratto a doppio filetto barriera; in diversi diametri a seconda della capacità produttiva richiesta (da 200 a 400 kg/h ed oltre);
• teste piane di estrusione separate (2) per un miglior controllo e gestione dei film prodotti;
• quadro di controllo completo di software di supervisione su piattaforma Windows 2000 (gestito con touch screen wireless) che consente la programmazione ed la gestione dell’intero impianto; • cilindro formatore, facilmente intercambiabile con cilindri di diversi diametri di bolla, con termoregolazione separata per consentire una migliore termoformatura del prodotto anche su grammature molto basse (35 g/m2).
La gamma completa - Power Bubble è disponibile per formati a partire da 1.250 mm fino a 2.500 mm, con velocità massima di 60 m/min. Come ogni impianto Torninova, anche questo è in grado di produrre una gamma completa di film a bolle che va dal semplice materiale per imballaggio a due strati (in diverse grammature e dimensioni di bolla) a tutti quei film che vengono laminati in linea con diversi materiali. Infatti, in base alla specifica applicazione, il film a bolle d’aria può essere accoppiato con polietilene espanso, carta o alluminio polietinato, film di alta densità, tessuto non tessuto, film metallizzati ed altri.
Tutti gli impianti, inoltre, sono in grado di produrre film per isolamento termico ed acustico che stanno rimpiazzando in molti Paesi (ad esempio la Francia o il Nord America) i tradizionali materiali isolanti usati oggi sia nell’edilizia civile che industriale. A breve, infine, con Power Bubble sarà possibile ottenere un film a bolla in polipropilene monoestruso, che si aggiungerà alla gamma dei tradizionali film in polietilene.
Un servizio puntuale - Per quanto riguardo il post vendita, Torninova garantisce l’assistenza al cliente attraverso il “Tele-Service”. Tutti gli impianti sono infatti equipaggiati con un modem che consente un controllo remoto, da parte dei tecnici Torninova, in qualunque parte del mondo si trovi. Grazie a questo servizio, insomma, l’azienda umbra è in grado di aiutare i tecnici del cliente per quanto riguarda l’individuazione di ogni minima avaria, le modifiche dei settaggi di produzione, gli upgrade al software di controllo e le operazioni di diagnostica sul funzionamento dell’impianto. Da quando questo servizio è stato attivato, spiegano in Torninova, il 90% delle manutenzioni è state effettuato proprio in remoto, con vantaggi in termini di tempi e di costi. Senza dimenticare il call-center e l’ufficio per l’assistenza ricambi.
Extruded bubble film
Satisfied with participation at the Plast in February (“good attendance, many quality visitors, and an increasing number of potential Italian customers”), Torninova focuses attention on a system exhibited at the Milan based fair.
A main product combining high output capacity and flexibility (1), Power Bubble by Torninova Costruzioni Meccaniche (Bastia Umbra, PG) has the following salient features:
• extruders (2) with AC motor shaft mounted and with universal anti-wear universal screws plus double barrier thread modular profile in different diameters according to the production capacities required (from 200 to 400 kg/h and over);
• separate flat extrusion heads for better control and handling of film produced;
• control system complete with supervision software on Windows 2000 platform (run from wireless touchscreen), for programming and handling the entire system;
• forming cylinder, easily interchangeable with cylinders of different bubble diameters, with separate thermoregulation for improved heat-forming of products even with low basis weights (35 g/m2).
The complete range - Power Bubble is available in widths between 1,250 mm and 2,500 mm, with a maximum production speed of 60 m/min. Like all of Torninova’s systems, it can produce a complete range of bubble films from simple two-layered packaging material (available in different basis weights and bubble sizes) to all films laminated in line with different materials. In fact, depending upon the specific applications, air bubble film can be laminated with expanded polyethylene,#paper or polyethylenated aluminium, high density film, non-woven fabric, metalized film and more. All systems can also produce film for heat and acoustic insulation which, in many countries (e.g. France or North America) are replacing traditional insulating materials currently used in civil and industrial construction. Lastly, in brief, Power Bubble can be used to obtain mono-extruded polypropylene bubble film, which will be added to the range of traditional polyethylene films.
Timely service - As far as post sales is concerned, Torninova guarantees assistance to customers via “Tele-Service”. All their systems are in fact equipped with a modem that enables remote control from the Torninova technicians in whatever part of the world the machine is situated. Thanks to this service that is, the Umbrian concern is capable of helping its customers’ technicians locate even the minimum breakdown, the modifications in production settings, as well as control software upgrades and diagnostics as regards system functioning. Ever since this service has been activated, the people at Torninova tells us, 90% of maintenance is carried out remotely, with advantages in terms of times and costs.
