Ray Jackson lavora in Italia da dieci anni. La sua opera, ispirata ai criteri del Neo-Informal, si contraddistingue per un acceso sperimentalismo di forme, materiali e colori. Espone in Italia e in Europa; attualmente, in collaborazione con Perseu Group, lavora a un progetto per Sick SpA (filiale del gruppo tedesco Sick).

L’arte di Ray Jackson ci conduce nel regno della dimensione pre-rappresentativa della psiche, dove nomi e forme non sono ancora stabiliti. È il luogo, un luogo che sta in nessun luogo, dove le protoemozioni non sono ancora veramente mentali, ma neppure completamente fisiche. La materia non è semplicemente grezza, ma non è ancora mutata in pensiero. Mattoni di luce, suoni di colore che potrebbero prendere differenti vie di sviluppo: sogni, dispercezioni, intuizioni. Le sue opere colpiscono per l’imponente impatto visivo, dove un intreccio di linee e colori racconta il fascino di un universo lontano e sconosciuto. Linea guida è la sperimentazione, realizzata attraverso l’impiego di colori industriali e tradizionali su tela e legno. Posso individuare nelle composizioni di Ray Jackson una costante. Un “ordine turbato” che comunque riesce a trovare nel caos, se non serenità, quanto meno un equilibrio e una continuità - qualcosa di simile a una sessione di musica Jazz. Traspare una gestualità misurata, non frenetica e istintiva come per esempio in Pollock, ma descrittiva e calma perché probabilmente il gesto riflette la quiete che segue la tempesta.

His works are on show in Italy and in Europe; at present, in cooperation with Perseu Group, Ray Jackson is working for Sick SpA (a branch of the German Sick Group).

From the chaos stems a new balance and continuity, if not serenity. In trying to find a musical similarity, I thought of a Jazz session. An equally important role is played by the gesture component. It is possible to identify a controlled gesture that is not triggered by something happening there and then. The gesture although still conveys emotions and feelings, describes and acknowledges lively and eventful experiences. It may be a situation similar to the catharsis of Greek tragedies, or simply the anticlimax of modern rhetoric. (Francesco Cascio)
